Obama Alert: Reagan’s “Dismal Legacy on Civil Rights
Source: No Quarter

Mr. Obama, get over your iconic view of Ronald Reagan’s message: Reagan was a racially divisive and socially regressive president. From the New York Times editorial page on March 21, 1988:

Ronald Reagan appears determined to go down in history as a President who sought actively to set back the cause of civil rights. How else can one read his veto of the four-year, bipartisan effort to restore the reach of antidiscrimination laws narrowed by a Supreme Court ruling? Congress appears to have the votes to override the veto. Decency argues for doing so, without delay. <…>

What I care about is that Ronald Reagan, the patron saint of the Conservative Movement, made a career out of deliberately appealing to the racist vote. it brought him to power and it was a constant tool throughout his career. Ronald Reagan acted in public as a racist acts. He deliberately set out to appeal to racists and continue the odious Southern Strategy. In doing so, he helped to mainstream racism in the GOP and thus the country.

And how Obama could attribute any good from this man and how Obama can use the word "inspire" and Reagan in the same breath is a damn mystery to me.

2. Ok not just Obama but any Dem who wants to represent us politically must learn the lesson
that Reagan was no friend of the people. (My apologies to his son Ron but we all have to live with the fact that our parents are/were ignorant concerning certain facts.) <http://www.actupny.org/reports/reagan.html>
