I love that Obama co-sponsored a ban on discrimination |
based on sexual orientation on Illinois. But nothing on gender identity. *sigh*

1. Don't sigh. Gender Identity was in the bill. |
Here is the definition of sexual orientation as defined for purpose of the bill, SB3186. (O-1) Sexual orientation. "Sexual orientation" means 24 actual or perceived heterosexuality, homosexuality, 25 bisexuality, or gender-related identity, whether or not 26 traditionally associated with the person's designated sex at 27 birth. "Sexual orientation" does not include a physical or 28 sexual attraction to a minor by an adult.http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09300SB3186ccr001&GA=93&SessionId=3&DocTypeId=SB&DocNum=3186&GAID=3

4. Opps, my bad. Obama sponsored SB101, which became SB3186 |
Obama voted Yes on SB3186. But before it was SB3186, it was SB2597, which Obama was chief cosponsor, and before that, SB101, again with Obama as chief cosponsor.
The bill came up three times during the session, and passed in March 2004. I worked a little on this effort, all three bills were essentially the same and included gender identity.
