He is clinging to his selfish urge to return to the White House with everything he's got.
He was even mingling inside the Caucuses today.

He will do anything. He will say anything. This is obvious.

For shame, Mr. President...for shame.

27. do you mean this union?

http://www.unitehere.org/about/

UNITE (formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees) and HERE (Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) merged on July 8, 2004 forming UNITE HERE. The union represents more than 450,000 active members and more than 400,000 retirees throughout North America.

UNITE HERE boasts a diverse membership, comprised largely of immigrants and including high percentages of African-American, Latino, and Asian-American workers. The majority of UNITE HERE members are women.
Our top priority

Organizing the unorganized in our industries is the top priority for UNITE HERE. Over 50% of the new Union’s national budget will go toward organizing. Current major organizing campaigns are underway at Cintas, Hilton, H&M, and the gaming industry. In the past five years, the two unions have organized more than 100,000 new members

Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 05:40 PM by JackORoses
Bill is currently using the full weight of his Office and the innate American trust in Presidents to directly influence the outcome of a US Election.

Never has a President done this.

Bill can say whatever he may and People will believe him because he was our President.
They'll take him at his word and not even look into it.

He is abusing power. It is very revealing and disheartening.

Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 05:28 PM by HughMoran
I am not going to throw him under the bus just because his wife is running for office and he is campaigning for her, just as all the other spouses are. It's not her fault that he used to be President. He is a civilian now with no power, so I am not sure how he can "abuse power". We are not electing Bill and everyone knows this. In my opinion, he is just a distraction.

Candidates visit caucuses all the time. In my last one, I got visited by the mayor, my city council member, and the speaker of my state legislature.

If Obama or Edwards wanted to visit caucuses and speak to them, they could.

12. Not true in Nevada
They actually adjusted the rules so that each campaign could have 10 credentialed caucus watchers represent them, instead of the originall-agreed-upon 2 per campaign.

I imagine Bill Clinton was there as a credentialed caucus watcher for Hillary's campaign, so he was certainly there legitimately. But Nevada rules specifically did not allow just anybody to visit or observe their process. Press and campaign representatives only, and they had to be credentialed in advance.

The only reason I ever got involved in politics was through caucuses. I can't think of a better way to get your feet wet in the process without having to join a campaign and butt-kiss your way into a delegate spot.

32. sometimes you can tell a man's intentions by his actions
this is one of those times

First Bill supported the lawsuit to suppress the at-Large Caucuses

Then when that failed he hit the Casinos with signs and buttons and used his Celebrity to gather votes.

He got on the air talking about how he witnessed Voter intimidation personally.

He fomented a backlash against the union by its own members convincing them that they were being told what to do by their bosses and Obama.

He is quite underhanded in his methods.

Everything you listed was done openly, mostly with complete media exposure. What's underhanded about that?

Just because you don't approve (and I suspect you wouldn't care if he were stumpin' for your candidate), doesn't make it underhanded. Or illegal. Or even unethical.

If there was a backlash against the union, thank that offensive Spanish-language ad. I think it offended a lot of Latinos, especially union members.

70. Chelsea did turn out well, eh? How unfortunate for her that she was in the press...
..so much during her "awkward phase".

Obviously declaring this "delegate victory" is a momentum issue...an attempt to keep black voters from turning against Obama again. Of course I know that. But, like I said somewhere here tonight, I am willing to fight tooth and nail to get a Dem in the White House. And considering I don't think Hillary has a shot in the GE..... And I honestly do like Obama, too.

If it's McCain, Hillary is fucked. The Republicans are going to twist her non-funding for Iraq into a slam of, "she'll vote for a war, but not to fund it once our troops are already committed". Against McCain, America's favorite POW?? Please. She's dead. That issue alone, combined with middle America's predisposition to dislike her AND the independents' predisposition to like McCain equals a sound general election defeat.

I'm just waiting for Obama to get started in my city and then I can put my time to better use.

My mom is from Camden (it wasn't quite so run down until the riots). We'll see how things go, I think Hillary would mop the street with that Bob Dole clone, John McCain.

69. Oh, I have got to agree. He has no shame anymore. And, this Bill Clinton is an ugly person.
Do we really want him in power again?

75. I liked Bill a lot more...
before he started running for a 3rd Term.

I heard his wife is helping him, but she mostly just gets in his way.
