Whoa - overflow crowd for Hillary (and Bill) in St. Louis |
|
My wife & I just came back from trying to attend a town hall meeting with Hillary & Bill, and we were turned away (along with quite a few others) due to lack of room. It was being held at a high school in Florissant, MO that has, I would guess, a capacity of around 1-2 thousand. They were scheduled to open the doors at 8:00pm, but by the time we got there at 7:45, people were already streaming back to their cars after being turned away. They may have started to let people in early to get out of the cold - it's 12 degrees here right now.
Interestingly, most of the people we saw (coming and going) were in their 20s. Another interesting observation was that several of the cars we saw had out-of-state license plates.
While HRC isn't our favorite, it was encouraging to see the turnout - especially the numbers of younger people.

Come Super Tuesday, she will reign supreme.
Bad news for the LEFT and Progressive side of the Democratic Party, like me.

Are you proclaiming "the left" and "progressives" to be at odds with Clinton?
If so, why?
Why not seek to influence and get what you want?
I understant the impulse to want your leaders to stand for what you want, but I can't understand the impulse to throw up your hands because they don't. What you want is only a lucid conversation away, with a receptive person of influence.

11. You pitch a reasonable question |
|
but the reality is far more ominous.
A reasonable dialogue is as effective in unlocking a Corporate hegemony as spitting in the ocean.
Hillary is owned, lock, stock and barrel, by the Corporate power brokers and will always be their girl. That is the price of taking their aid.
Progressives will get token programs and other half-hearted measures. It will be platitudes only. In the end, she will continue the stranglehold over citizens by the Corporations she owes. To believe otherwise, is to be willingly ignorant of the machinations of politics.

15. I know one thing, WHOEVER the Democratic candidate is |
|
If that candidate does not distinguish him or herself on Iraq from the republican counterpart, and by distinguish, I mean getting us out of there within a year, I will have a tough time voting in the presidential race

19. All of the Dems are committed to bring the troops home soon |
|
but, what if Bush attacks Iran? What's that going to do. They can't bring anyone home. I'm worried that Israel might do something to help Bush because I think he's itching to start something.
Whoever wins this election is going to inherit a terrible, terrible mess.

16. "Hillary is owned, lock, stock and barrel, by the Corporate power brokers" |
|
that sounds like 9-11 conspiracy material without specific referneces.
What is it you're basing your claims on?

20. When something is so obvious it doesn't need proof |
|
We lawyers use the Latin term "RES IPSA LOQUITUR", as in , "it speaks for itself".
If you want to play the "rube", then I will devote a full page of links to Hillary's Corporate endorsers. If you think there is no gravitas to my claim, then tell me why Hillary never decries the issue of lobbyists in Washington politics?
Why? Because it would open the gates of a firestorm of pot, kettle, black.
You just lived in the reaslity of Bushco for the past seven years. He is the Corporatist choice. Who runs this Country, Bush the puppet or his Corporate enablers?
Please, save your half-hearted protestations for someone else.

21. Which is to say, you are basing the claim on pretty much nothing. |
|
I didn't ask for "proof", just wondered what you were basing the claim on.
Apparently you think that because she's not decrying the issue of lobbyists in Washington, that's enough for you to make your claim. Sorry, but it is not.
