I am officially disgusted by GD: P right now... |
|
I've made some snarky remarks, but come on people.
I'm not going to point out any particular posts, but I find myself lurking less and less these days.
Because I simply end up shaking my head, and wonder.
:wtf:
Why the HELL are we doing the competitions work FOR them?
I challenge everyone:
Type ONE...just ONE true and valuable thing about the people your candidate is running against in the Primary. And I don't mean fluff, I mean meat and potatos without sliming.
I support Edwards...so here are my comments.
Hillary Clinton. Tenacious, and determined. Passionate about her campaign, and about getting health care to the USA. Barack Obama. Devoted to healing our country, inspiring and unique in the way he looks at bringing us all together. Dennis Kucinich. Knows the Constitution inside and out, dedicated to it to the point where he carries it and states "Never leave home without it" Mike Gravel. Not afraid to say what he thinks, or to call people to task. Has a great moral compass.
Please take this challenge, trust me ...you'll feel damn good about it. If I can do it so can you, no guarentees for tomorrow, but lets at least do it today.

Barack Obama: Talented politician, no slouch in any area, would move the country forward in some ways as the first black president John Edwards: Believes what he says, decent policy positions, smart Dennis Kucinich: Closest to the real deal, but you can tell that by the fact that he didn't get anywhere Mike Gravel: Mesmerizing ads

3. Yeah, but what if some of us don't agree with you? |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 09:10 PM by Atman
I mean...okay, so Hillary is passionate about her campaign. But to what end? To serve whom? Is she really all about getting better health care to the USA? She may think she is, but has she become jaded and fallen under the influence of the millions of dollars she has received from the industry?
Barack Obama may be devoted to healing our country, but if he is going to poison us with coal-fired energy, and is similarly under the influence of corporate $$$, what will he really do to "bring us together?" Is he going to somehow make the confederate flag wavers suddenly see the light? How?
Dennis...Oh, Dennis. He's so cute. I love the guy...I voted for him in the 2004 primary. He's a constitutional scholar, and he's got a wicked-hot wife with a tongue stud. And a 0% chance of ever sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office.
Mike Gravel. Uhm...who?
My point is, just saying something nice about someone won't change a damned thing. The media is telling America who their choices are. Our voices are meaningless. Kumbaya is great for summer campfires, but the fate of our nation is at stake. If it takes some blood-letting to right our foundering ship of state, so be it.
It's called "politics."

5. So don't agree with me... |
|
Hey thats fine,
But IMHO it will feel GOOD to say something positive for a change, instead of all the poison thats been seeping around the edges. Lets put the knives away for just 5 minutes and support ALL our candidates.
Is that really so bad?
It's only for 5 whole minutes, it's shorter than it seems.

7. That was the Bush philosophy for the past six-seven years... |

Just keep saying positive things! Find your happy thought and the truth won't materialize!
Look where it got us.
The time for happy thoughts is done.

Obama: A real healer who is devoted to the core cultural changes this country needs to succeed, and I think could a vehicle for them. Hillary: Political savvy combined with a truly huge heart. Understands the actual restraints a politician faces to their solution and has the knowledge to work around them to truly help a lot of people. Edwards: He believes in people, he truly embraces the human spirit and the equality of all, and his political plans reflect this. Kucinich: Almost unflinching dedicated to his ideals, willing to sacrifice for them. Gravel: Not afraid to question status quo.

Obama--He's a Constitutional scholar who taught law for a decade at the University of Chicago, and he's vowed to uphold the Constitution, restore Habeas Corpus, close Guantanamo, and make government more transparent! Kucinich--Cuter than an Ewok, smarter than Hans Solo--but more chance of being elected to the Galactic Federation than the US Presidency. Sorry. Edwards--Besides being hot, he's a true Progressive and the only candidate to take on the corporate corruption and actually say the word "neocon". He deserves major props for that. Hillary--She's the only person alive who's got prettier hair than Edwards. Seriously, it looks soft and natural, but it never moves. Stays in those nice layers. Kudos to Procter and Gamble, the makers of Pantene.

I love Dennis. I really do.
He won't be elected, but in these times, I believe he could take that as a compliment. He's too good for our country!
Seriously, I'm sorry if I offended you. I would joyfully support a Kucinich candidacy.

I trust Hillary Clinton wants to beat the ever-lovin' shit out the Republicans for what they did to her and her husband. I admire that.
I think Edwards has some of the best specific policy proposals of any candidate.
I think Kucinich is sincere in his beliefs.
I think Gravel did important work for the country when he was in the senate.

19. I think the MODs created GD:Primaries it so you (and others) could ignore it |
|
but, still allow the opportunity for those, who wish to 'let off some steam' to do so. If you look at Skinner's sticky post, you can hide these from your latest posts list and ignore GD: Primaries completely.
I'm an Edwards supporter, too. I've vented a few times -- sometimes saying more than I wish I had ... but, I don't want to censor anyone from saying anything - sometimes people just need to let loose in an environment they feel safe in to relieve themselves of the stresses/disappointments/frustrations they are experiencing/feeling.
I suspect, most folks participating on DU are under a lot of stress these days ... from the economy, to kids off in Iraq or Afghanistan, to health issues, etc.
All I'm saying is maybe there is a little bit of displaced aggression/anger going on and it might be helpful for everyone to keep that in the back of their minds while reading some of the posts.
Several DUers have shown me a lot of kindness and understanding over the years - so I, for one, am going to try to pay it back and try to be more empathetic, patient, and understanding.
PS: That's for you -- HuskerDU, BushDespiser12 and too many others to list here.
