So the strategy is to downplay the importance of South Carolina |
|
instead of having the guts to fight for it and show respect for the African-American vote? Why?

Since when did South Carolina's voters come to the rescue of the Democratic Party?

You're mistaken, Hillary needs black support if shes going to win the GE. Think shes going to win them back if she wins the nom? NOPE. The only way I see this happening is if Obama is on the ticket w/ her, but thats unlikely to happen. Shes fractured the party, and if even TOP dems are concerned, that thats a freakin problem. Deny it all you want but we're about to get steamrolled come November if something doesn't change quickly.

28. Just because blacks are voting for a black candidate |
|
doesn't mean that they are going to vote for a republican or really turn out in significantly less numbers. These Obama fanatics must really believe that the Clintons are racists. It's ignorance.
South Carolina, like Iowa and New Hampshire are not indicators of how people will vote in the general. Let's at least wait for a single blue state to weigh in.

I think Hillary is a pro. Is Barak? I think he still has to prove that.
When I look at Obama, I see a campaign that is out of control. If he wins the nom, will he win back control? NOPE. If he thinks Clinton is bad, wait until the repukes swing into action.
Clinton has not fractured the party. Don't believe everything the MSM says. We have had contentious primaries in the past.

Stop turning it into a statement on race.
I know you like to pretend Obama is here just to "inspire" everyone, but he's out for VOTES too. That's why he left NV before the caucus was even over. Was he disrespecting the Hispanic vote? :eyes:

9. Showing disrespect for the AA vote? How does that work? |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 01:26 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
I haven't noted you before as someone who seeks to stoke racial heat for no purpose.
I certainly wouldn't say Barack is showing disrespect for the Latino vote by campaigning in SC instead of being in California like Hillary.
Both will be campaigning every day in different places, so presumably both will be showing respect for the people in that place and disrespecting the entire rest of the nation.
I am guessing that before Feb 5 Barack will campaign in places he is strong, and avoid places he is weaker. Seems like normal campaigning to me.

Some Obama supporters think it's a really good idea to bring up "black" and "Obama" as often as possible, possibly because they have all the survival savvy of a moth looking at a candle.
I agree with Katz that the downplaying of SC is transparent, but disagree that it shows disrespect to African-Americans, of course.

it's not at all shocking that strategy is involved in such decisions. Why do Obama supporters have to blow everything up and act as if it's the first time a candidate has ever concentrated on other more winnable states?

|
who are the most loyal group in the democratic coalition if they keep using race baiting and downplay states which have a large black population. She can't win if the African-American vote is depressed. In the end, if she's the nominee, she needs Obama more than he will need her.

The whole reason it is going early is to create a more diverse primary and give African Americans a voice. It's a very very important state.

14. Don't ya love this primary schedule? |
|
I think part of the problem is everybody, and I mean everybody, is feeling the effects of this schedule compression. If I were Clinton, seeing how things are going for Obama in SC, I would devote my precious hours now to other states, too. Super Tuesday is right around the corner ... can't spend too much time on that fight 'cause there are others to fight too.
I'm looking at these people and I see burning fatigue in their eyes. Honestly, I am amazed any of them are still able to put together a complete English sentence.
While there is a value in pressure testing of this kind, I don't think that was the idea behind the front loaded primary schedule. If it was, then I think they took the pressure testing thing a bit far!
