Edwards supporters: Would you be happy if he was Hillary's VP? |
|
There are rumors floating around, because Hillary and Edwards met in the green room after the last debate. People are speculating that she offered him the VP slot--if he quits before Super Tuesday.
Although there's no proof of the content of their conversation, it does beg some questions.
Edwards supporters...How would you feel if Edwards was Hillary's running mate?

of deal to make me happy.

whatever decision he makes and if that was to be her VP, yes. However, somehow, I cannot see him being Hillary's VP, don't see how that could work out.

4. Not at all. JE is not second-fiddle material |
|
I don't think he would be happy as VP. And the VP (Darth Crashcart excepted) is not really in a position to influence policy.
He should be at the top of the ticket.

6. She's asking for the VP spot... she knows that if Obama drops, |
|
her she loses the next primaries... She wants in.. she'll take VP... or maybe cabinet pos. Obama is her buffer.. but he is doing too well.. she's going to take him out with the Rezko thing.. it will force him out... but then she loses to white man... the numbers suggest Americans would rather deal with woman Clinton over newbie black man.

...but I'm not sure I understand (forgive me, I haven't had my coffee yet!).
Are you saying that Edwards is asking Hillary for the vp spot?
You said, "She knows that if Obama drops...she loses the next primaries". Can you elaborate on that?
Thanks for any further insight!

28. Ok... Lets really get out of DU and into real life. |
|
There is a poll that says Americans would rather vote for a White female (Clinton--knowing the Duo have been there and done that), than a newbie black man.. who has, unfortunately, a middle name of Hussein. The numbers are there....
MSM says its a race between Clinton and Obama. So, you now must pick between black man and white woman. New Hampshire showed what happens when you privately vote the way you feel. And I've lived up there.. there are a lot of very racist people mixed amongst really progressive people. They'd rather pick Hillary.
If Obama quits the race... then you have Clinton and Edwards. Hands down the man is going to win the primaries... A lot of Obama supporters will switch to Edwards and a lot of Clinton supporters will switch to Edwards because now they don't have to worry about getting a black Presidents.. And really.. between Clinton policy and Edwards policy.. Edwards is better...
Now, if Edwards picks Clinton as VP... then a lot of people are happy that they got a woman into a top spot and that is something. Also, the Presidency is protected from coporate whores because Edwards is not bought.. And with Clinton's seniority of been there, know these people.. He'd be able to use her to wheel and deal his way. He does recognize that Clinton would be a powerful asset to accomplishing Universal Healthcare and some of these other progressive policies.. And she'd be able to snub the corps. because Edwards wouldn't let them at the table..
Really.. Its an idea that wouldn't be that bad.. Hillary as Pres. owes too many people too many favors.

18. That's why I'm intrigued...and I wonder what's |
|
....going on.
This is all speculation. For all we know, they swapped brownie recipes. :)
However, it is interesting to contemplate.
Did you notice, during the debates, that Hillary ranted furiously---making very pointed statements toward Edwards about corporate corruption and taking lobbyist money. She absolutely insisted to Edwards that there was no difference between her policies and ideas, and Edwards' when it comes to taking lobbyist money and kow towing to corporations.
I was floored by that.
Maybe...Hillary was attempting to fill in the obvious differences between Edwards and herself?
I'm an Obama supporter, but I would also be very happy with Edwards. However, my head would explode if Obama was her vp. I see her as the anointed neocon enabler, who will perpetuate their agenda. I respect that some of Edwards supporters might be happy with him in the executive wing. However, I was also wondering if other Edwards supporters would feel as upset as I would be, if my candidate ended up on Hillary's ticket.

I'm not in love with any of our candidates. So if it gets the job done, I don't care who does it. I want people to matter more than corporate profits and that hasn't been the case in more than 20 years.

a Clinton/Edwards ticket would be a winner. If Clinton is the nominee Edwards would not hesitate for one minute to be her VP. When each speaks it is much more than rhetoric. I see the desire to become president as real. I can see the passion in both.

|
So, I guess they may have talked about it and he may be considering it. Clinton/Edwards could be a good Dem ticket. It would help her in the General to have him on board. Yes, they have differences. But those differences may help to attract a majority of American voters. Between the two of them, they do cover a wide spectrum.

Hillary-do some reading-fucked over GORE when he was veep. She was the actual co-president even then. Edwards would be a fool. And they clash on everything.
AND I think Edwards biggest mistake was being on the Kerry ticket. That baggage is exactly why he's not fresh (like Obama) and not winning.

If Hillary is elected, Bill will be her defacto VP. Whoever she would actually designate would simply be symbolic only.
The only people floating those rumors would be the Clinton campaign. Cold day in hell, etc.
