Kerry denounces 'lies' about Obama
John Kerry, the Democratic candidate in the 2004 presidential election, made an extraordinary intervention on behalf of Barack Obama yesterday, accusing his opponents of stooping to "Swiftboat" smear tactics to destroy the senator's presidential ambitions.

7. Good gracious
Have we all forgotten what swiftboating is? Kerry made it perfectly clear today he will have the back of whoever the nominee is, so all the haters around here who want to turn Kerry's email into a Hill Hating Fest ought to take note of that.

10. Apparently Kerry has a different definition of Swiftboating than you do.
Ironic that you include his name and picture in your screen name and avatar.

That I know what Swiftboating is. I've had his back on the internet for 4 1/2 years. Thank you.

17. Watched it twice.
We have candidates drawing distinctions between each other's records. Candidates who each want to win and when the nominee is chosen all of this will be passed under the bridge with them and those who didn't win the nomination will be out there on the stump making certain that our chosen nominee is the next president of the United States.

21. Oh thanks I can't login to your email...
But I got it too. And you are mis-representing what Kerry said. He didn't say there were Democrats using the strategy. Go read it again please.

24. well that was embarassing
yes you are correct that he only explicity refers to the anonymous emails. However when he is talking about distorting his record I believe that he is talking about the Clinton machine although you are correct in that he has not yet done so explicitly. I think he is getting pissed and ready to do so.

25. LOL!
It was good for a laugh. ;)

I think Kerry made it clear today in his post on DKos and the HuffPO that he will fight the smears against the nominee "whoever" the nominee is. Time will tell. From where I sit as someone who observed for months before deciding to support the "machine" or I would prefer to say, Hillary Clinton, there's a lot of swiping going around across the board. Tis the season so they say. Fact is they are all fine candidates each of whom would be fine presidents. Hopefully we'll not end up all divided over this messy primary. :)

9. I really don't care. I am just wondering why he didn't fight back against the swiftboat liars
in '04? But he can do it now, and so swiftly? And I supported him and voted for him.

3. That article is a bit misleading. It puts into the article things
that are not there. Kerry is only talking about the Muslim e-mail smears against Obama, nothing more, nothing less.

8. Exactly.
Unofrtunately the media got a little carried away with what they wanted to read into the email. I'm so glad JK clarified it today.

13. Hey, it's the silly season: what are you gonna do?
Funny part: on DailyKos, you see JK's diary and then an ad from the Guardian linking to their article in this post.

4. If Obama were savvy
he'd quite easily go after HillBeans for connections to Penn and Bush financiers.

But hey that would open up a can of worms that Obama knows he cannot.

Too bad about all the corruption and interconnected financial dealings.

The lobbyists are waiting in the wings and will demand their due from whichever gets anointed.
