The "I Can't LET myself vote for Dennis" movement: this year's big success story |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 07:00 PM by Ken Burch
The progresssive candidate is out of the race. He was forced out largely because those who agreed with him more than any other candidates refused to vote for him, and because many of them, for no good reason, pushed others not to do so either.
Because of this, the rest of this year's race will be much more sterile, bland and lifeless. Ideals, hopes, and the fight for a better world will have little if any place in it.
And the NEXT time we beg a Democratic politician to stand for what we truly believe in, all of them will say "screw you Charlie, look where it got Kucinich".
Happy about this, people?
Don't expect us to see anybody run for office with guts for years to come now. It's just gonna be tall, blowdried, prepackaged mushburgers.
Thanks for all your efforts. Thanks for obeying the Beltway and the CEO's.
This COULD have been a year that mattered. Now it's just a mundane, soulless effort to seek office. Great.

1. What the hell are you talking about? |
|
Was 2004 not a year that mattered?
I worked MY ASS OFF for Kucinich that time around, and what was so different? Hm?
Take your lecturing bullshit elsewhere.

4. 2004 was a year that mattered. I didn't say it wasn't. |
|
And I wasn't really attacking you as an individual.
It's just depressing that progressive politics(with the possible exception of Edwards, who I am now taking a hard look at) now seems to have been pretty much forced out of the race.
I hope your candidate does well in S.C. tomorrow.

It's just that I also feel so awful that our choices are being narrowed... and also that it seems to be so easy for the media to have moved from marginalizing Kucinich to marginalizing one of the top three... *sigh*
Thanks... and sorry again :pals:

As the old Scots poem put it "I'll lay me down and bleed awhile, and then I'll rise to fight again!"
God it sucks when the Beltway wins.

3. I was 100% on board with Kucinich until the "Ron Paul for VP" stuff. Then I was still 50% likely to |
|
vote Kucinich until he endorsed Donnie McObama on the eve of the Iowa caucus.
Dennis lost my support fair and square and it had nothing to do with any "I Can't LET myself vote for Dennis" movement.

6. There WAS no real "Ron Paul for VP" stuff.. That was a comment made by Mrs K |
|
Who is English and didn't realize it could be misconstrued. And Dennis didn't really endorse Obama. That was media spin.
Progressives will now have to look mainly at 2010 and 2012. We'll try to get the ticket elected to get a mundane change of government, but now we'll be lucky if the platform says anything.

7. But it's easier to spread the meme |
|
then it is to acknowledge the truth. It was a rhetorical question and as typical of Dennis, used it to illustrate a point. http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/2007/11/the-buzz-about.html

14. That link doesn't prove anything other than that people had heard the meme. |
|
And with Dennis out of the race, there's no good reason for you to belabor it.

16. Did you know follow the links to the news stories where Dennis was directly quoted? This is Dennis's |
|
campaign blog so, if he was misquoted, don't you think he would have corrected the misquote?

5. Ken, this is not a progressive country. It is a country of corporate sycophants. |
|
The people fear the corporations more than they love freedom and democracy. When the Romans lost their Republic, there was a serious civil war - there won't be one here...

8. I find it amazing that Kucinich won the Candidate Fun Run here |
|
and won a couple of independent on-line polls, and yet people decided that he "couldn't win" and therefore didn't vote for him. Doesn't make sense to me.

15. I think the news media is helping to decide who will win instead of |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 07:47 PM by FtWayneBlue
being impartial. Look at how much time they gave Hillary and Obama and Edwards in the debates compared to the others. They want a three-way, or better yet two-way race, or even to anoint the winner themselves.
(figured I better edit my 1000th post for spelling)
