When Obama senses that he may lose this thing, will he go nuclear? |
|
I would. I don't care for the Clintons. Fuck 'em. Rhetorically, bare-knuckle, strategically politically-wise--well, yeah, they are the shit. But what does that do to one's soul?
Anyway . . .
If I'm Obama (not that I support him either--but more so than I do Clinton), and they keep flinging the shit and then pull back and call for truce, and I'm still determined to keep crying/whining (yes, Obmama-supporters, crying/whining) about the lies, then I do two things in a sentence or two:
1) I remind everyone explicitly that Clinton lied under oath. "You know, I'd ask that we put him under oath, but history shows that doesn't mean he'll tell the truth."
Or, perhaps have some fun, and simply say that he lied to the public while wagging that finger at us: "I did not have sex with that woman." In fact, I'd use this syntax in my snarky comment. "I could have sworn I heard Hillary say, 'I did not have relations with that slum lord.'"
Whatever the case, it would be fun just fucking with them, dragging them deeper into the mud into which Obama has been drug.
Oh, yeah, just so you know--I have no nose; I cut it off in the third grade to spite my authoritarian teacher.

11. Fine. Let them split hairs on camera about it. Let them complain. |
|
And maybe we can split hairs about "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." And maybe that fucking finger wagging, a clear indication of feigned outrage and potential lying. Oh, I'm sorry, you're right according to Black's legal dictionary fellatio isn't REALLY sexual relations. Yeah, go with that. Shall we keep talking about lying.
I don't mean this as an attack on you. I'd just like to throw their own no-holds barred tactics back at them (which, in a way, I admire, and CAN'T wait to see it unleashed at the repub as I'm wearing my Vote Clinton button). It's just the nuclear button I'd be tempted to hit after hearing some of the bullshit flung at me(and the lying; and the denials).
By the way, for everyone: Go Edwards.

9. unless he can prove she DID have "relations" with that slumlord |
|
other than a snapshot from a DNC Fundraiser for Carol Mosely-Braun in the early 1990s and no record whatsoever of money donated to Hillary for any of her campaigns, he'd end up looking like a complete idiot as well as continue calling attention to his REAL connections with "that slumlord".
Perhaps you should join his campaign and offer him your sage advice?

The wit.
So damned funny.
Jesus. Stop.
Please.
Killing me.
I mean, at least insult me.
And, by the way, pecae, bro/sis. I thought that since we're in "Primaries" sharp elbows could be thrown.
I was throwing them at the Clintons, not at your mother.

That's the kind of guy he is.
But if the shoe were on the other foot, Clinton would do more than go nuclear. She would hit us with an asteroid.

16. Well, i'll go back after I vote for the Dem. candidate. |
|
You guys take this more seriously than I do.
Both Clintons get under my skin. Sorry, they do. I don't like triangulation. I also think they (yes, they) did some very good things. The 90s were good to me. I thank the Clintons. But I still don't like/trust them.
I like them because the enrage the right. I will vote for the Dem. candidate. Period.
Jeez, lighten up, folks.
You can make fun of my candidate all you like: Kucinich 2008; oh, wait. Edwards 2008.

17. "Clinton lied under oath" Thank God you're not a lawyer |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 07:41 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
And if you are, God help us.
Perjury is a crime with no everyday analogue.
Clinton willfully deceived the American people, and was less than forthcoming in his sworn deposition in the Paula Jones case, but he didn't commit perjury.
The term "sexual relations" had a stipulated meaning established by the judge in the Paula Jones case in the ground rules for the deposition. He was asked a question and answered it narrowly, literally and accurately using the definitions established for the deposition. The fact that the questioner didn't follow up properly speaks to the general incompetence of the stooges pursuing the Paula Jones case.
If you cannot distinguish "being weaselly while under oath" and "perjury" then you ought to refrain from stating that people committed perjury.

18. Jesus, you miss the whole fucking point. |
|
God, I hope you don't operate heavy or light machinery.
The point was simply to get them to do (and the cable shows to do) what you just did. It ain't rocket science, brainiac. So get them, their handlers, cable spokespeople to talk about how it wasn't technically lying under oath, about how ,technically, according to Black's it wasn't "sexual relations."
So, yeah, if I'm Obama, and I know how much the press doesn't like Hillary (and they don't), I give them the story to salivate over. In fact, I think the press would defend Obama. I think they'd say that Bill had it coming (no pun intended) because he's been making shit up (cue Kerry's statement).

21. You're right. I stopped reading your post at that point, so didn't see where you were going |
|
I'm in a foul mood.
Having read it all... That course of action would end Obama's political career on the spot.
Whatever Democrats think about Bill's impeachment, almost all Dems have an emotional investment in the impeachment saga.
I'd equate it to, if Gore entered the race, Obama mocking Gore for losing Florida.
Bringing up whitewater against Hillary would be similar.

22. Would it then be fair to ask Obama |
|
if he's ever lied about sex? Under oath?
The Clinton campaign might not be able to ask that question, but everyone else can.
Don't open that can of worms. Obama's got enough problems already.
