NC, GA, IL (Chicago), PA (Philadelphia).
The worst and nastiest political fighting, smearing and machine politics I've ever witnessed took place in Chicago.

from the link in the OP
In a swing here, John Edwards accused his Democratic rivals of bringing “New York and Chicago politics to South Carolina” and told voters on the day before the state votes that he is the only candidate who will represent their interests in the White House.
“That may be the way they do politics in New York, it may be the way they do politics in Chicago, but South Carolina is better than that and you deserve better than that,” Mr. Edwards told diners at the Country Ham House, about 35 miles from his hometown of Seneca.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Mr. Edwards criticized Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Senator Barack Obama by name. “While they’re intent on tearing each other down, I’m intent on building up the people of South Carolina, giving them a real chance, focusing on jobs, health care, things that really affect their day-to-day lives,” he said.

Here in Massachusetts both New York and Chicago are synonymous with dirty politics.
It isn't just a southern thang.

4. What he really said with regards to Clinton and Obama: |
|
“While they’re intent on tearing each other down, I’m intent on building up the people of South Carolina, giving them a real chance, focusing on jobs, health care, things that really affect their day-to-day lives,” he said.
He didn't call either of them a damn Yankee. Stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

21. Do we have to carry this to the 21st Century? |
|
Shall we tell voters in NY and IL that South Caroline was the worst slave owned and segregated state?
Why are we dragging historical facts into the debate, ignoring any changes? Oh, yes, pandering.
And he is bashing Clinton for voting for the IWR - which, at the time, was supported by most Americans?

on issues than supporters of Clinton or Obama support them based on theirs. I'm not sure what your point is. Do you believe that most of Clinton's and Obama's supporters are backing them due to their solid stances on issues, while Edwards's aren't?

he;s really not a"the grown up" anymore. That was cute but pushing it too hard.
He was great in debate but any of them could be if the other two were skirmishing.People know the top two rivals would bully each other
I know he wanted to push his advantage, of course. Maybe his campaign people were using it too much on camera.
Hope he does well today. I felt bad for him in November.
