In America today, something just happened for which ALL Americans should be very, very proud.
In South Carolina today, land of slaves and slaveowners, lynchings, the KKK, police dogs, and the whip, the first serious African American candidate won the majority of the under-30 caucasion vote. For that, we can all be proud.

Crosby Stills Nash & Young - Teach Your Children Lyrics

You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good bye.
Teach your children well,
Their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picked, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
And you, of tender years,
Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents well,
Their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picked, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

America's fatal flaw of racism than we ever have been before. It's long overdue, but now is the time!

9. its time to let the younger generation, my sons, show the way here.
I support Edwards then Obama, but my 19 year old son who is VERY politically informed, wants to vote for Obama. If Edwards can't get better than third, Obama will get my vote Feb 5.

11. That's a positive way to look at it. SC was I think the most vicious racist states. nt

12. Not to rain on the parade.
I'm both pleased and proud of the statistic quoted in the OP, but let's make sure we understand the context. Obama won over 50% of the under-30 caucasian democrats. When he wins over 50% of under-30 caucasians, non-democrats included, then we'll have something to cheer about.

As it is, I fear Obama can not win SC in the general. There are fewer racists in the South today (perhaps) as a percentage of the general population, but there's still plenty of racism. Let's not get our hopes up too high.
