George Steph(ABC) read ChicagoTrib to 0bama today practically said tell the truth here on tv - |

Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 12:37 PM by kelligesq
George Stephanoupolis (ABC) read the Chicago Tribune on 0 to him this morning, practically said "tell the truth here on tv"
Chicago Tribune:
as we've said, Obama has been too self-exculpatory. His assertion in network TV interviews last week that nobody had indications Rezko was engaging in wrongdoing strains credulity: Tribune stories linked Rezko to questionable fundraising for Gov. Rod Blagojevich in 2004 -- more than a year before the adjacent home and property purchases by the Obamas and the Rezkos.
One more time, Senator:
You need to divulge all there is to know about that relationship. Until you do, the journalistic scrubbing and opposition research will intensify. "
0 just talked about the land deal to George, not what the Tribune referred to -
Don;t think this is going away, then George said you've said you've given all the money from Rezko back, but there is three or four times more money than has been given back , and will you give his (Rezko's)associates money back?
Apparently 0 received money from another associate of Rezko, also under Fitzpatrick's investigation and even hired this other associate's son in his DC capitol hill office.
Nope, doesnt look like this is going away. It's usually not the misdeed that gets them, it's the coverup.

2. may be too bad he won, but not because you're white-inappropriate comment-topic is Tribune slap to 0 |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 12:33 PM by kelligesq
you could say because he's too far to the right, or because you like another candidate, but you make it sound like you're a bigot and that's why you regret his winning.
The topic is the Chicago Tribune slapping Obama's hand for not being totally honest, not too bad that he won.

17. yeah but there's alot more to the race than last night |
|
and the questions will only begin to build. why not face the facts and make the questions go away correctly? I mean isn't it through truth and leadership that we are lead into a new and bright future? Doesn't cover-ups just ring of the past?

6. The GOP will use this all through the GE |
|
and even if, by chance O wins, we'll have a ready made scandal for them to harp on from Day 1. The only way O would be able to make it go away is to let the GOP and corporations control his administration.

It isn't over at all, and the repugs will use it to their advantage in the general. I also agree that "if" he does become president, they will also use it against him. I have no doubt at all that there is far more to this, and the Bush administration is holding some things back till after the nomination.

9. There was a candidate for Senator whose spouse was involved with the mob |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 02:12 PM by kelligesq
the candidate had risen to District Attorney of a very important county, but "they" (let's just call it a very high law enforcement group) were not going to let that candidate rise any higher than District Attorney. They broke open the mob connections, indicted the spouse, and sent the spouse to jail. Notice I'm not mentioning any names. Anyway the candidate was finished as far as any higher office was concerned but still remains District Attorney.
Of course that was in the 90's - and that high law enforcement group has changed - so one doesnt know whether they will or will not follow the same rules when it comes to Obama. But the very fact that the Rezko indictment and connection to Obama has come out now is highly suspect.

Anyway, great post kelligesq ! This is a story still to be told.
On the other hand, though the affair shows absolutely horrid judgment at the least by Obama, I get the feeling he believes he has put a clamp on the story by prior dealing. It would be ego beyond explanation for him to take a chance on a Presidential run, with a scandal of that magnitude, which would be suicide for the Party.
Should that occur, no amount of condemnation would ever atone for that sin.

:D
I think he does have the ego to think he will get away with it. He';s more involved than the pundits are mentioning or even the Chicago Tribune -but they are more than hinting broadly.
There's all those letters of recommendation that Obama wrote for Rizko to enable Rizko to make those deals -
If you don't think "they" keep a file on everyone, and I do mean everyone - kind of like blackmailers - they just keep the file and don't use it til the person becomes a threat - of course since we have no social or monetary order anymore, who knows whether "they" will or won't.

Obama and let's say, Daley, or somebody.
It won't help when we all find out that Rezko isn't an Eastern European name, but is Syrian-Lebanese. That's right--Rezko is a scarey ARAB!!! I don't think he's muslim, but you can hear it now, anyway.
When Obama announced, I wondered if there would be any Chicago Machine mud that would stick to him. Historically, Chicago has had a reputation as the U.S. city second in corruption only to New Orleans, and as Fitzpatrick will demonstrate, some of it is still there.
I think that things have improved, but older voters at least probably remember its reputation--and the first Mayor Daly at the '68 convention. Those are not happy thoughts.

I agree with you. When they find out who this Rezko is, lots of Americans will be highly suspicious .
First Reagan Then Rezko slumlord Then not all Rezko contributions returned by Obama, Then indicted guy's son working in Obama DC office now Rezko Syrian?
whoa...all they have to do is find out Rezko contributed to fronts for terrorists - LOL - and put a fork in the candidate

|
I'm sure we'll find out and some of them might be MUSLIMS!!!
Rezko could have contributed to some sort of charity thing for Lebanon. Goodness knows folks there need it.
I just don't understand why I haven't seen or heard more about this. I even went to Free Republic and they don't seem to care if the guy's Arab, so maybe I'm wrong.

16. There's a difference bwtween contributing to |
|
a "front" and legitimate charities - but who knows what Fitzgerald will find out.
the associates name who is also indicted began with an "a" - a long unpronounceable name...which George Stephanoupilis mentioned...lol
point is also that apparently the contribution was sufficient to get "a;s " son a job in Obama's DC Capitol office.

23. Yes, I picked up on that, too, as a former House intern. |
|
Those jobs are difficult to get, and, frankly, the folks who get them as favors aren't always the ones doing the work in those incredibly understaffed offices.
A few weeks ago, someone answered a post talking about the swank, open-bar after party that Obama's supporters put out after his speech at the Boston convention in 2004. It was the only open bar. The poster didn't know who the money was behind it, but it was significant.
When I heard about Rezko, I thought about that poster.
I'll have to try to stay awake for the re-run of Stephanopoulos this evening on my local all-news channel.

20. Yep. Didn't Tony Soprano have a similar situation - he was buying |
|
slum housing for rehab but they never got rehabbed - just took the money from the banks and declared bankruptcy? and his partner was a councilman-politician in the town who made the recommendations?
Rezko followed Tony Soprano's playbook LOL
but in real life a lot of politicians are being investigated for their relationships with Rezko
