My Utopia

In my utopia, the cab driver that takes me to the office in the morning wants to discus the finer points of all the Democratic health care plans, and then he invites me to a sit in at the capitol he’s having with some friends.

When I sit down at Eggies for my morning breakfast, I don’t have to explain to Lee, the head waitress who’s been there for 700 years that I’ve been doing volunteer work for Edwards, the politician, not the guy who talks to dead people.

In my utopia, in my own privet wonder world, the woman I meet at the local watering hole considers RFK speeches to be foreplay. You know, I’d just roll out with something like, “If we do our duty, if we meet our responsibilities and our obligations, not just as Democrats, but as American citizens in our local cities and towns and farms and our states and in the country as a whole, then this generation of Americans is going to be the best generation in the history of mankind.” And she wouldn’t respond with, “You’ve got miles to go before you sleep with me, bub.” That would be my bliss.

If I turned on the TV and found Chris Matthews was gone, replaced by Rachel Madow, hosting a round table with economic and civil right experts on How to Best Stimulate the Economy while Maintaining Social and Civil Justice for All, my life might be complete. That for me would be must see TV.

And we can give Tweety a job hosting a daytime TV show where they determine the paternity of fatherless children born to mothers of a less than stellar reputations. Yeah, in a dream world, that would be Tweetys job. Or he can just follow Rudy around saying how hot he is.

In the perfect world for me, all repuglikins would be deported to Texas. Sorry Austin, we gotta put em somewhere, and you know God Blesses Texas. I think we might keep the Libertarians and the Paulnuts around just so we have people left to irritate.

In utopia land for you and me? We wouldn’t let our elected officials get away with squat. One false step, and we’d be out there rattling our pots and pans and keeping our Republic, just as we were told to do. We would all vote, and we’d all know enough to really hold them accountable.

No one would ever ask me who I thought would win American Idol. Schools would be palaces, college
would be free, and health care would be for everyone.

In my utopia, everyone cares, and everyone is involved.

In my utopia, in my heaven of heavens, on January 21 2009 and around 6:15 in the morning, Barack Obama walks into the Oval Office, looks at President John Edwards, sitting behind that time honored desk, and he says, “What’s next?

We live in the vally, where it never gets too cold, the ground hardly ever shakes, and when it does, it's really small, no fire to worry about here, and the only mud sliding I do, is when I play football on the weekends. Don't let the press fool ya, you can get really soft living in the vally.
