American Nurses Association endorses Hillary Clinton
ANA represents the interests of the nation’s 2.9 million registered nurses

"Too many Americans must do without high quality health care, and this country deserves a president that will make health system reform a priority,” said ANA President Rebecca M. Patton, MSN, RN, CNOR. “Senator Clinton has shown a commitment to implementing real change in our health care system to ensure high quality, affordable and accessible care. She has also recognized the importance of educating, recruiting and retaining, RNs, and the need to improve the nurse’s work environment which includes addressing safe and appropriate staffing. America’s 2.9 million registered nurses represent the largest group of health care professionals. We have long advocated for the critically needed reforms vital to the improvement of health care and will use our power in the voting booth to make health care a priority.”

2. Wonderful endorsement!
Nurses are the backbone of the medical profession and deserve whatever advantage they can get wherever they can get it. Talk about unsung heroes.

3. This is a great endorsement from the ANA,
I don't know how much power of persuasion they have, but it's significant to me that they chose Hillary.

8. Was this the same group of nurses that promoted SICKO last year?
If so, interesting choice. Could someone please help me out here?

18. I don't get it either
Clinton stands for nothing but selling out to insurance companies and Big Pharma.

9. My wife is just home from the hospital. The nurses were wonderful.
There is no harder working group of people in the country, day in and day out. I see this as a fine endorsement.

19. Yep...
I have family members who are nurses and a friend whose family just got through the death of a newborn in one piece mostly because the nurses were so caring and supportive. I know it's a job I could never handle. And they are so overworked and understaffed. Someone needs to help them.

13. ANA is a wonderful organization
I am a member of ANA, unfortunately I'm not as active as I'd like to be, oh well I still renew my membership. Anyways, ANA does a great job of promoting the fact that Nursing is a profession by combatting stereotypes and ensuring proper education and safety standards. Until recently I worked as a pediatric/ neonatal ICU RN, I am now a nurse-anesthetist (CRNA). We CRNAs make really good money, but I can say without doubt the hardest job mentally, physically, and emotionally has got to be those bedside RNs. I used to work nights in the PICU and even the physicians gave use respect as having the tougher job, we were the ones at the bedside, noticing patients trending for better or worse and then pushing for intervention before they coded. We never let babies or kids die alone, in those instances where families weren't available, we RNs all took turns sitting with the dying patient, at times even using our own breaks to do so.

I'm new to this board and judging by my weeks lurking here, things could get rather heated. I'm a registered Independent in California, but I've never voted for a Republican since started voting at eighteen in 1992. I'm fine with any of the three Dem candidates, although I have to make up my mind pretty soon for Feb 5. I have to say however, Hillary Clinton has shown herself to be very knowledgeable and interested in actually implementing universal healthcare. I'm also equally impressed with John Edwards on this issue. On the issue of universal healthcare, from a somewhat neutral standpoint, I think Edwards and Clinton definitely come across as being more knowledgeable and intent on seeing this to fruition.

Nurses are just working grunts. They're not Kennedys after all. But I think this is a great endorsement. Good for Hillary.

Make that hardly anyone...Obviously those who've responded to this buried thread cared...
