Edwards plans "aggressive" ad buy in 10 Super Tuesday states, fundraising "booming"
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 05:14 PM by jackson_dem
But, but I thought he was running out of money? I read it here!

From NBC's Victoria Riess

In a confrence call today, the Edwards campaign announced an "aggressive media buy" in ten states over the next 48 hours, which it plans to expand as February 5th approaches. According to the campaign, the ad buys will give the public more exposure to Edwards' message and help him win support because, "as we saw in South Carolina, once people have a chance to hear directly from John Edwards, the numbers move."

The campaign added that fundraising is booming, totalling almost $4 million dollars even before Federal Matching Funds took effect. The campaign noted that the most significant trend in an increase in fundraising came from long-time online supporters who made first-time contributions.

The campaign is confident going into the race for delegates on Feb 5th, citing several states in which Edwards has strong support and backing (AL, CA, ID, GA, MA, MN, MO, NM, ND, OK, TN).

5. Hopefully he can beat Obama in Florida
Beating a celebrity candidate will give him a good boost of morale and in the court of public perception heading into Super Tuesday. Unfortunately, Obama is running ads in Florida. Edwards isn't cheating so he is disadvantaged in Florida.

15. I volunteered at an Edwards rally in Chattanooga, TN this
morning (it was great, BTW) and a woman was talking to me and stated that she'd contributed to his campaign, but she is now laid off from her job, so I promised her that I'd make a small contribution for her.

16. GREAT! Thanks for your volunteer work!
AND for contributing for someone who can't. If she's laid off from her job - that's a great reason to support Edwards - to help put a stop to this crap!

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp?cycle=2008Source of Funds:

John Edwards:

Individual contributions $30,121,494 99%
PAC contributions $20 0%
Candidate self-financing $0 0%
Federal Funds $0 0%
Other $207,638 1%
PAC Contribution Breakdown:
(How to read this chart / methodology)

He doesn't get close to Clinton and Obama's contributions.

12. That should put to rest any of the wishful thinking by Obamaites that he's going to drop out
of the race and hand all his support to them on a silver platter. With Hillary and Obama battling each other, they just might be forgetting that someone else might sneak by.

22. Why not? Slow and steady was exactly what I did late this afternoon
when I snowshoed up a small mountain near me. If I don't go slow and steady, I get all burned out early and end up losing time. So you're right. Slow and steady is the way to go. It's faster in the long run.

On top of the thousand I've given over last 5 years. I've got a soft spot for him.
