"Ted Kennedy now believes that Hillary CANNOT win the GE"
That was said on CNN. Ted believes now that there is no way that Hillary can win the election, even if she wins the nomination, which is one of the reasons he's for Obama. Also, they said that Ted will make his feelings known to other stalwarts in the party and pressure them to support Obama for the reason that only he can win a GE.

1. Thats not his decision to make, thats our job as voters

shame on him for doing that, if it is his opinion, he has no right to take away the voters right , we decide, not him.

12. How is he taking away your right to decide?
Ted Kennedy doesn't get to anoint Obama. You still get to vote. He is merely expressing his opinion.

It's always what the big shots in the party want, and we get stuck with their candidate, not ours!

30. Oh?
Well this is an interesting argument. Considering how little support there was from Hillary supporters for the inclusion of Kucinich in the debates. No, at that time the inevitability strategy was fine and friggin dandy and teh devil help you if you stood up agaisnt the media annointed candidates.

Honestly I really have so little interest in hearing hillary and Obama supporters whine about how either of them is having their candidates taken away or voters rights infringed, at least not until the General Election.

So why should it stop Sen. Kennedy? All isn't fair I guess so long as it's your candidate who is being marginalized. :wow:

60. not exactly the voters
The super delegates make up 40% of the needed votes

If Ted pushes them to go with Obama he gets the nod

Ted saying this publicly also affects voters that don't do much candidate checking

Most republicans I talk to think Obama has no chance in the world of winning, and would rather see him than Hillary, who the also don't think can win, but they think Obama is a cake walk! I wonder if Kennedy actually said this, or it's the media once again putting words in his mouth?

10. What? I want to see a direct quote on that
I've always admired Ted Kennedy, and I can't IMAGINE he'd throw ANY Democratic candidate under the bus like that, giving fodder to the Republicans if that candidate, whoever it may be, wins the nomination. That goes far beyond an endorsement. You normally hear things like "X Candidate stands the best chance against the Republicans," not not that he or she CANNOT win the election. I'm withholding other comment until I see this from Kennedy himself, not what CNN (we're right 50% of the time!) says.

24. I saw it happen, John King said it to Jack Cafferty,,,, as hear say
He said something to the effect ...... (not a direct quote)....

I have talked to some friends in Mass. and they said Ted Kennedy decided to endorse Obama instead of staying neutral because he thinks Clinton can't win. (in the general was the implication)

Again this is Wolf's stand in, passing along hear say from people he calls his friends.

Not exactly a solid statement by any means

18. I think that's true as well.
I think the only way Hillary can win, is if she matches up with Mitt Romney, based on the likability factor (Romney may be the most unlikable candidate, at least in his own party). And that's ignoring any sort of 3rd parties that may yet enter the race.

for the Democrats in the general election!!!

Shut your trap Teddy, you lost your moral compass the day that your negligence killed a girl. How dare you sit in judgment of Bill and Hillary Clinton!!!

Bill was the only Democrat to be reelected since FDR, he must have been doing something right and deserves more respect!!! Furthermore, my admiration for Bill has grown since I've seen how his foundation has positively affected thousands of lives throughout the world, but primordially in Africa (yeah, he's such a racist).

Shame on you Teddy!!!!!!

43. Nope, I didn't forget them.
Harry Truman was FDR's vice president from January 1945 until that April when FDR died. He ran on his own only once. LBJ became president upon JFK's death in 1963 and chose not to run for reelection due to the Vietnam war.

Bill Clinton is the only president to have been reelected twice since Roosevelt.

The previous election they both ran as vice president in someone else's ticket. Get it? They each had the right to serve the remainder of their predecessor's term and then to run TWICE on their own. Both Truman and LBJ only ran ONCE.

I just watched Teddy's speech on msn and it was Caroline that convinced him to support Obama and it was her "kids" that convinced her..So, what does that tell you? Teddy hasn't done his homework and has made a major error.

It's a lengthy video, so grab a cocktail or a cuppa coffee.. Well worth watching and putting his decision into the proper perspective. He was pushed into the endorsement by Caroline and her kids pushed her! Which is plain NUTS!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22873162/

He also said, he would support "whoever" the Dem Nominee is...and had kind words for Hillary and John Edwards..

Ted boiling over Bubba

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s endorsement of presidential hopeful Illinois Sen. Barack Obama reportedly came after mounting anger toward the Clintons over the racial overtones of campaign attacks against Obama.

Quoting anonymous sources, both the Washington Post and New York Times reported that Kennedy was frustrated with attacks on Obama by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, which he thought to be misleading. Sources confirmed Kennedy expressed his angst to Bill Clinton directly.

According to the Post, the senior senator’s frustration boiled over Saturday when the former president sought to downplay Obama’s South Carolina win by comparing him to the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who won the Palmetto State in his long-shot 1984 and 1988 campaigns.
