Obama Campaign's David Axelrod on Morning Joe: No Snub Intended
OBAMA CAMPAIGN: NO SNUB INTENDED

On “Morning Joe,” Obama chief strato-man Axelrod said The Snub wasn’t a snub, but simply a matter of Obama dealing with the “awkwardness” of the day and wanting to give Kennedy and Clinton a private moment.

2. This certainly makes the most sense of anything I've heard.
It's not like Obama and Clinton don't talk and converse before and after debates.

7. Obama should run from a VP with Clinton. Given the Bill dynamic
it will be a "nothing" position for whoever takes the spot. And in a future election, the repubs will certainly capitalize on that fact.

Obama should say thanks but no thanks if he doesn't get the nomination and she does.

13. It's obvious. But that won't stop people from pretending it isn't.
Anything to tear the party apart.

27. The complete Axelrod transcript from MSNBC from Poltiico...
January 29, 2008

Axelrod explains

David Axelrod, on MSNBC, offers an alternate explanation for that awkward moment on the floor:

I don't think he snubbed her at all. First of all, they acknowledged each other as they entered the chamber. But I think he knew that Senator Kennedy and Senator Clinton were friends. This was obviously an awkward day from that standpoint, and I don't think he wanted to stand there while Senator Kennedy was greeting Senator Clinton. And I think that was an appropriate sentiment. Unfortunately, the camera caught it in a different way, and so it got interpreted that way. And that's the kind of environment we're in right now. It's a very competitive race, so every little thing is going to be interpreted in that way. But it was really a matter of letting Senator Kennedy have his own conversation, his own greeting with Senator Clinton without him hovering over them.

...I think it's understandable that he would not want to stand there with Senator Kennedy as if he were lording it over her. You know, I understand that.

as him gloating had he shaken her hand while he practically had his arm around Kennedy. Barack is genuinely a nice man and it bothers me how the Clinton campaign tries to nail him with it.

can I tell you something? We're gonna win this thing. We're gonna get the votes we need and we're gonna win this thing. And you know what I'm gonna do after that, I mean that very night, I'm gonna go to TGIF's, I'm gonna order a big steak, and I'm gonna make a list of everybody who tried to fuck us, and when you and those other mealy mouths come around trying to apologize I will just tell them they made the list.

I cannot wrap my mind around the idea that he would want to give Kennedy and Clinton a private moment and not rub her face in the endorsement so personally... therefore Obama must be evil! QED!

17. The scandal deepens
First it was a DU thing, then it was a one-shot mention on cable, now the Obama campaign has to try to spin & refute it. Bwahaha - Kennedy endorsment was yesterday's news; Snubgate is the big story today.

22. Hillary and Barack see each other on a weekly basis.
They saw each other at last week's CNN debate in South Carolina.

They will see each other at this week's CNN debate in California.

I don't think they need to be talking together on a daily basis.

It was a busy room, and Obama wanted to talk with as many of his current and potential endorsers and supporters as possible. He already knows that Hillary will not be endorsing him for the primaries.
