Is this normal?
Look, I can be as stubborn, thick-headed as the next person. I will be the first to admit that I have made posts here tonight that weren't overly kind to Hillary. But I must ask, are these types of posts/bickering normal for here? I clicked refresh every 5 seconds for about 25 seconds, and the posts just kept on coming. Take a moment, and look hard at the list of posts in the GD Primaries section. There's Obama supports bashing Hillary supporters.. Hillary Supporters Bashing Obama supporters.. and each takes turns to through a shot at the Edwards people. But it isn't just bickering.. no, it's outright disgusting. Some of you people have dumb-ass pet names for those you don't like.. and others revert to using Right-wing one's. I mean.. honestly.. wtf?! Initially this evening was somewhat entertaining, but now it's just downright depressing. I can't even imagine what it seems like to some of you lifers to see this stuff happen.

I didn't leave the damn republican party to come here and join a different version of the same.

rant off-

13. This forum is caustic right now. There are many other forums like
General Discussion and Latest Breaking News that are much more sane and highly informative. BTW -- welcome to DU.

25. This is my first primary season here too. I'm told it was just as bad last time
but I have trouble believing that.

Let us get past next Tuesday, and we should be cool again.

11. I'm an Edwards supporter and I'll not hesitate a second to vote for the Dem...
who gets the nomination in hopes of ending the war and restoring some semblance of our former democracy.

The bickering just reflects the passion we all feel... It's just a little misdirected right now.

2. It's my first primary here, and I've been told that it's generally like this
during this time. And I've been here long enough to know that these are really good people, and some just get a little too enthusiastic in their support for their candidate.

I pretty much just cruise by threads with a Candidate's name in the subject line. It helps.

19. Yea, I used to read paperbacks on the beach, now a laptop?
Ugh, but sounds pretty good! I'm meeting my sister who is bringing a laptop, so I have my "in" if I'm really feeling left out.

FWIW, Sunday my "GIANTS" are playing in the Super Bowl and it's my birthday. I'll be in MX with my twin sister and our husbands. It can't get much better than that. So pshawwww, Super Tuesday!

4. It is not normally like this
but during the primaries it does get crazy. Please hang in there and you will see it get back to normal and filled with good editorials, debates, and news instead of all the fisticuffs.

15. how much detail do you want?
or will generalizations suffice?

I couldn't stomach the lies about the lies. I didn't appreciate The action's performed in the areas of invasion of privacy, destruction of numerous basic rights, the construction of, and then the massive powers given to the Homeland Security dept. I have dozens more, but this thread isn't about this right now.

You said:

"There's Obama supports bashing Hillary supporters.. Hillary Supporters Bashing Obama supporters.."

Is there a particular reason why you capitalized the B in bashing for Hillary supporters?

(don't worry, it will get more civil after a nominee is chosen) :hi:

9. Normal...
Tempers are a little out of control, but it's not entirely all of our own doing. I hope we won't allow ourselves to be manipulated into allowing the factionalizing of the Democratic Party.

As you may know, DU was infiltrated by Freepers and other groups many years ago. I recall a time in particular the board was locked down it was so bad, and access was limited to (if I recall correctly) those of us who had donated at one time or another or been members for a while. At the time, these trolls favorite tactic was to post extremely objectionable messages (aka "I'm glad our troops are getting killed!") and then call Rush Limbaugh or someone else and complain about the post they themselves had made. This would then stir up a hornet's nest about how everyone who opposed Bush was unpatriotic, and Democrats hated America, and here by golly was the PROOF!

Sometimes hatred of Hillary is so extreme it can't be contained to just FreeRepublic, and they like to bring it over here. The idea of "the witch" being sent packing without the nomination causes them a virtual orgasm. They will spill their poison and vitriol here, and as they do they further anger real (and yes, fake) Hillary supporters who in turn do the same thing. The same happens in reverse - many of them believe Obama would be a stronger candidate and so want Hillary to be the nominee, and so make posts to turn people against Obama.

The idea of a Democratic civil war, the party left rent and bleeding and factionalized, has dawned on them as the only way to achieve victory in November. We must not let that happen.

21. Good rant. Don't ever believe for a second that this place reflects the views of most Democrats
It doesn't. Lately, it reflects the worst parts of the farthest rightwing elements this country has to offer. You see, DU has become so infiltrated with republican moles and whiney assed extremists from both ends of the spectrum that it's hard to tell which is worse, far left, far right, or the repuke trolls who have made their way in here. But don't worry, if you really look around you'll find some reasonable thoughts posted here and there, although it's like finding a needle in a haystack for sure.

candidate. Hang in there. Brain cells return AFTER the primaries.
