While I am a Mike Gravel supporter, second Kucinich, third
Edwards, fourth Obama, last Hillary, once again the sham of
the modern American means and ways of choosing their next
great "deciders" escapes me.
Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe I'm experiencing Deja Vu,
back in my early days when "brokered" conventions
were the norm, when RFK challenged LBJ, until his head was
blown away, like his older brother. When McGovern challenged
the status quo, and when Teddy ran against Jimmy. What would
be so wrong about a return to such golden days of real
"democracy?"
I caution all to note that while following the demo taking
back of Congress in 2006 was a first step, the next is getting
the right person to take the white house.
Then maybe some positive things could actually get done,
starting 2009.
But as McCain seems to become the eventual nominee of the
Republican party, with a Rudy or Huckabee kicker, the dems
seem bitterly divided, and I'm afraid there is no real
solution except to boil it all down to simple electability.
I am convinced Hillary (and whomever as VP), will be a
disaster. There is a spark of hope here. It's with Barack
Obama. And it doesn't have to come down to low-brow
"sucks" levels. It only comes down to which Dem
candidate has the best chance and the best forward-thinking
approach to the great unwashed masses, who are hungry for
change, real change.
The Clintons to me represent a step backwards, and after 7
years of GWB, we all need to keep our eyes on the real prize.
Dems need to take back control of the executive branch. If
anything is to be really done within the system.
I am hoping Edwards drops out after Super Tuesday, and throws
his full support to Obama. Help us, Obi-ama, you're our only
hope...
