Great. With Edwards out, my primary vote goes to either my 4th or 5th choice. |

And, since Texas doesn't vote until MARCH it probably won't mean squat anyway. :grr:
I long for the days of the brokered conventions. Sometimes I think the smoke-filled back rooms gave us better candidates.

I must be the kiss of death or something. My candidates never win. Of the two remaining I prefer Obama, but that probably means he'll lose, too. Maybe I should just stay home. x(

3. yeah, i'm thinking the same. |
|
unless there are some local candidates that need support in the primaries, i see very little reason to vote. I'm no big fan of the remaining two candidates, it won't make any difference to me which one becomes the Dem candidate. OR maybe I'll show up and write in Higgins Hartmann.
Some very good candidates never had a chance to reach Super Tuesday. So much for democracy ....

2. Those rooms definitely gave us better candidates. |
|
And I've been on my 4th or 5th choice for a long, long time now. Gore, Biden, and Dodd were all better choices.

4. The old "smoke-filled room" method at least avoided the celebrity factor. |
|
Now it's all about who's got the best advertising campaign, not who's the best candidate. x(

5. This is why I'm against fan voting for the All-Star Game |
|
But I've been losing that battle since, what, 1972? :)

6. Ha! That's exactly what it is. |

Fan voting at the All-Star Game. American Idol. Survivor. Who gets voted off the fucking island? It sucks.

7. Yes. Americans + the celebrity factor = terrible for democracy. |
|
This is why we need a Fairness Doctrine and Equal Time policies with teeth in them. An informed voter should not be a market-driven commodity.

8. We will see what I call the "Gore Factor." |
|
Democrats never loved Al Gore so much until after he lost and they realized what all their infighting and negative comments about Gore being "too stiff and humorless" or "too professorial" got us - a Bush presidency. I predict they will have the same love affair with John Edwards when either Clinton or Obama is elected and disappoints or McCain/Romney wins. I have seen precious little leadership from either Clinton or Obama in the Senate. I have waited for my outrage at the lawlessness of this administration to be expressed by either of them, and I have seen nothing that impressed me. I'm sick of "go along to get along" thinking.

10. If he's still on the ballot in Texas in March, I'll vote for him. |

:patriot:
As to your other question, it will take some time to distill my thoughts. :hi:
