Who will be first in courting Edwards voters, to tell us they are most like John Edwards? GOD BLESS HIM.

Obama or Clinton better not lie to the people that John represents.
Thank you John!

The only thing saving me is Alaska has a wonderful progressive candidate for the House of Representatives that I volunteer for. If she loses her primary in August, then I'm REALLY done. In 40 years I've never had my favorite win ... I can't figure out if my instincts about what would be good for the country are that wrong, or if the rest of the country are just a bunch of idiots. My confidence is really shaken.

Feel as bad as I did when RFK was shot, when MLK was shot. Feel as afraid as I did when I heard JFK was shot. I feel like this country just can't support someone who cares about the poor and disenfranschised.
I am feeling abandoned. And I have to turn the tv off now because I don't want to hear the CNN vultures pick apart what went wrong.
We LOVE you John...and more importantly, we need you as our champion.

137. There are logistical details that require that particular term 'suspending'... |
|
... to wind down a national campaign it takes time to comply with all the financial requirements and campaign financing reporting laws, etc.
It should not be read as indicating he might still be in the race.

That pretty much sums it up for all of us, Kajsa. We no longer have anyone speaking for us. I loved the man and his message, too!

I wonder how far they'd go - if Edwards got the nomination or won the election. Or do I already know?

132. I seldom cry over anything.... |
|
I seldom admit when I do cry, but Edwards said something that got to me. It's not just about supporting a candidate, it's about supporting a CAUSE.
I will choose a cause.. Habitat for Humanity, or the local foodbank, or the local homeless shelter, I don't know what yet. But the cause of eradicating poverty is important and he woke us up to that. Thanks, John Edwards and bless you in whatever you choose to do from here.

148. Same here, this is not typical for me at all, but I'm choking back tears |
|
and trying to keep it together at work.
I feel like I lost something very hopeful and real. I understand supporting the cause -- and that's the real issue -- but for right now, I feel heartbroken for my country.

He wasn't my candidate, but I respect his message. He's been a vital part of the 2008 primaries, and I hope he'll have an important role in a Democratic presidency. I'm glad to see that Obama and Clinton have both been respectful of him, and pledged to carry on the fight against poverty.

What he didn't say spoke volumes. And Dem candidates and leaders should ignore him and his supporters at their peril.

I meant, we came to DU and we supported a cause because we didn't accept the messages of the media. They were always there with an agenda, and the agenda continues. It's a hard day... Sigh.

I felt sucker punched when I realized Gore wasn't running and stayed off the blogs for weeks and had to watch movies, read fiction and do other stuff besides politics and stay away from news.
Thats all I can suggest. I am leaning one way now but I changed my avatar to a glass of wine because it has all gotten so crazy and fucked up wine is the only thing I want to stand for now.
I think we should all try to be as neutral as we can while still supporting our candidate. Remember once again our common goal of getting the republicans out.

I need someone who will pick up the mantle of the Progressives and I don't see any CORPORATE shills doing that.
John spoke for me in all issues, especially those dealing with poverty and corporate despotism.
I really don't see anyone who is left, CREDIBLY picking up John's challenge to corporate power and empowering the disenfranchised. My hope is that the Convention is reached with no clear winner, forcing a brokered Convention. Perhaps this isn't over yet. One can only hope.

I know he'll figure prominently in the next administration. One pundit nailed the reason for no traction in one word: timing. He may have run too long and peaked too early. It doesn't mean he wasn't the best one for the job.
