5. I see, and shall we go through this rigmarole every time a black person is on the ballot?
If we waited for the racists in the GOP to catch up, no non-white would EVER hold an elected office in this country.

9. What rigmarole?

The OP is only suggesting that we not assume that rhetoric about there being only one America is either accurate or widely accepted.

You said you were not especially afraid of RWers. Well after the damage they have done this country and the world, I think we have reason to be.

14. Pfft. I know exactly what the OP was driving at before he edited his post.
It's not going to work.

2. Naturally.
This is America. We've never had a problem with racism here.

Oh, wait a minute, yeah we do.

4. I hope not. But it's still a better campaign theme than: "There's a white
America, there's a black America and they will never be united" (unless David Duke is running for office).

6. Yeah, right. If the Clintons were so for unifying this nation, why did they work so
hard on a scorched earth campaign strategy designed to sow such divisiveness. If it quacks like a duck, sometimes it's a duck. For some time the only quacking I've heard is from the Clintons.

10. Jesus, what stupid thing to say.
1. They aren't. You have not seen "scorched earth" yet.

2. I think Bill Clinton's record of protecting civil rights while in office is a lot more persuasive than any negative campaigning Hillary has done.

3. Using the campaign as a campaign issue is always a bad idea. The public does not care about that.

16. You should be smart enough to know that the Clintons of all
people would not deliberately do the things BO has accused them of. You've known the Clintons and their policies on freedom, and race, and helping the less fortunate for years. BO is the new guy in town and is trying his best to destroy their image. And after reading the posts of his supporters it' working. Our country is in bad shape. Hillary has the background and know how to do the work that is necessary. BO is not being truthful when he blasts them for being racist and not being truthful, he's just covering his ----. Because he knows he goofed.

 I just don't get it! Today, I have lost HOPE!

"Indeed, it is being demonstrated yet again that, “America is like a melting pot. The people at the bottom get burned and the scum floats to the top.”

I wish I would have found this before today. Please read it.

http://www.blackcommentator.com/259/259_keeping_it_real_obama_double_speak.html

Edited to add-- (the scum is the Republicans and neocons)

"In the very name of supposedly empowering the people, Barack Obama and many of his supporters are actually about the business of disempowering people,"

"Does anyone remember Condoleezza Rice? She is, by the way, biologically Black, and she sure as hell does not represent economic and political “change” in the vein of truly empowering the people. Oh yes, and what about that biologically Black man Colin Powell? You remember him, don’t you? The first biologically Black US Secretary of State, who went to the United Nations and told the entire world the big lie that Iraq “possessed weapons of mass destruction” that, in turn, provided political cover for the colossal debacle of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq. It must be reiterated that equating genuine and much needed economic, social and political change with skin color is absurd, cynical, and enormously dangerous. Yet, this appears to be an important part of what Barack Obama and his handlers are cynically counting on. They know that a significant portion of the American people, including many whites, want real change, so why not give them clean-sounding superficiality instead of truth, coupled with a huge dose of double-speak. This strategy serves to please and engender trust of the corporate backers while confusing many potential voters, especially young and/or first time potential voters. It might be an effective strategy but it is also a cynical and dishonest one."
