To all John Edwards supporters |
|
I was an asshat today. I'm sorry. For some of you, I'm sure this apology will seem like too little too late...
I posted a thread today in the wake of so many saying that they wouldn't vote for either of the other candidates and would even consider leaving the party..in a moment of anger. I should have never suggested that anyone grieving the end of the Edwards campaign "grow up". It was rude, thoughtless and simply...poor form.
I would like to extend my hand to those of you whom I hurt (even though I recognize that this is an internet forum and many might not have cared that much.)
I deeply regret hurting your feelings. Edwards is an incredible man, and though his candidacy for 2008 has come to an end, I believe that he will continue to be a great presence in the democratric party.
Again, I'm truly sorry to those I offended.
Kris

Most of us don't take stuff here too personally. (At least when there aren't primaries)

Yes, you were an asshat, but to your credit, you admit it. I get angry, and posted angrily to you, but I don't hold grudges. Welcome to DU. And remember, just like when you start a new job, there's a certain probation period. I don't mean a formal probation, but people don't know you. You don't have a track record to fall back on. And, we've had a lot of new, "hit and run" posters here, who post something inflamatory just "for fun" then disappear. I'm sure they get their jollies by reading the answers, though.
You asked in another post about long time DU members and short timers, and why the latter are sometimes viewed with suspicion, especially when they post something that offends. That's why. Build up a track record and gain some respect before you jump into the deep, muddied waters.

We have several very self-absorbed people here, but honestly, Lady, you clearly bring out the worst in so many!

I truly hope that you can understand the deep sadness those of us who supported Edwards were feeling at the moment that you posted it. Many of us have spent money, time and a great deal of energy working for him and we were very passionate about him. The thought of having to choose another candidate, at that moment, was simply too much to bear. It's hard to me to choose right now, but I'm sure as time goes by one of the other two will sway me.
I hope you stick around here and learn that it is really a terrific place despite the fighting. It's a huge forum with lots of great people and interesting topics.

12. There is no candidate of the people |
|
The two leading candidates are pro-war,Faith Based, and globalization.
As soon as the "win office" they will declare amensty. They are corporate representatives.
How dare the workers party (Democrats) do this to the people. You bet I'm angry. Yet another stolen election because they know we could win. Citizens proved in 2006 a Progressive mood for the country. They can't allow it and even ignore our agenda for our own country.
