Damn, damn, damn, damn, daaamn! |

Just heard Candy Crowley repeat the Andrea Mitchell meme: Edwards voters = low class, low rent, low education. Based on the comments from the Edwards people on DU, quality, class, and smarts are the primary hallmarks of the Edwardians. Seems that the only time they would go off the rails was over the MSM treatment of all the candidates and the Dem campaign in general.
Also take great exception to their contention that Clinton is the 'obvious' 2nd choice for Edwards supporters.

7. Why am I not surprised? |
|
I'm starting to get so used to being marginalized and insulted, it doesn't shock me anymore.
And that's the first time I've heard anyone say that Clinton is the obvious choice for Edwards supporters. I've been beaten over the head with Obama since before John even stepped aside, so that's surprising. I for one am an Edwards supporter that supports Hillary over Obama.

16. I heard Candi Crawley(SP) |
|
Say something similar to that. She went on to say the Edwards supporters would choose Clinton as there second choice. I think I may have heard it a few other times this afternoon as well after Edwards spoke.

8. She did make ONE good point, however. |

A huge chunk of Edwards' base was working-class folks and, as that segment also makes up a huge chunk of Hillary's base, Hillary will probably get the bulk of those votes.

9. The media is saying those things to try and say only Hillary will gain from Edwards exit |
|
As one political guy earlier today (Mike Barnacle, I think) said about this, more of Edwards "working class" support was with blue collar males, who arent going to vote for Hillary no matter what direction these news people are telling them they should vote.
They dont like Hillary.

10. I actually have a theory that there are(were?) 2 main groups of Edwards supporters |
|
1) True Liberal 2) Working Class
of course, a person could be both!

14. MSNBC cited a survey from last week |
|
40% Hillary 25% Obama Balance undecided
As I am voting for him in my primary and could care less which of the 2 the people pick for me, count me into the "balance"

17. Oh I have no idea, I really can't say who other people would vote for |
|
I think when someone goes over the reasons to vote for a candidate, there's so many factors, I think people try to oversimplify it all too much, especially the pundits. Like I said there's just so many factors, I really can't pretend to be an expert because I'm not!
I've read that Hillary does better with working class dems, if that's true maybe they'd go to her? But I also heard that Obama does better with rural dems (which would probably be working class?).
So I really don't know, but, people have a right to choose for themselves!

18. Ok I forgot to mention the obvious: |
|
Of course, any true liberal would vote first for Kucinich! but . . .
disclaimer: this is just my opinion, I don't believe that the other candidates aren't liberal, I just from the beginning thought Kucinich was the best out there, and I cannot be convinced otherwise!

21. Working class for Hillary, true liberals (the ones who are upper middle class) will be split |
|
Maybe 60/40 for Obama? But I think that John's working class/lower middle class support (among "true liberals" or not) will break hard in favor of Hillary.

I'm college educated. My husband has a master's degree and a high level professional job in a (god-forbid) huge corporation. Our income is well in excess of poverty level. We are homeowners. Etc...
And WE ARE EDWARDS SUPPORTERS!
What a bunch of bunk! Edwards just scared the living daylights out of corporate America--he was marginalized and never got a fair shake!

19. Well I was and Edwards supporter |
|
pretty pissed at him for getting out before next Tuesday
I think I will send Candy a copy of my W2, a picture of my home in a nice middle class gated Florida community, my college transcripts along with the training records from my 20+ years in corporate America....to assure her I'm neither low class, low rent or low education -
So Candy may not be low rent or low education - but she is an IDIOT and low class
and I have to say I know this lady and she actually is kind of low rent and low education and I told her I was going to vote for Edwards in the primary and her response was who is that....?
You're an idiot Candy....
oh and about that gated community thing - I really didn't care that it was gated - I just liked the house - lol - and actually I hate the gate.....

should help refute their argument that Edwards supporters = low class, low rent and low education.
I'm sure that Edwards supporters include Americans from a wide range of social, financial and culture backgrounds. I'm also sure that most of us are fully aware of what Crowley and Mitchell are.
