Is it my imagination, or is the MSM focusing more on Dems than GOP |
|
when it comes to describing issues and personalities? I thought for a while it was because I frequent DU that I hadn't heard much about the puke nominees, until I started going to a literary board where a poster had started a political thread. There were tons of posts (sadly, mostly negative) about the Dem nominees, complete with links to articles about them, but, as of yet, not one post about the puke nominees or where they stand.
In talking to some friends who are usually Democrats, I've found the same thing to be true. They know all about Clinton/Obama, but next to nothing about McCain or Romney. One has definitely decided that he doesn't like the negative things he's heard about the Democrats and has decided if McCain gets the nod, he'll vote for him. Note this is not based on any issue or stand McCain has made-the fellow didn't KNOW of any--just didn't like the Dems.
I'm getting the feeling that the MSM is shaping this election in more ways than one. By concentrating on the Dems, they are really giving the puke candidates a free pass. Is this your impression too?

1. Not imagination. 2 possibilities. |
|
1. D's receiving more press because it's a foregone conclusion that they will romp in Nov.
2. Your scenario.

the fighting between the clintons and obama camp and the Bill stuff. Your right maybe the real spin is that they make the republicans look like the calm nice guys...what a crock!!

4. I don't think they're doing anything deliberate, but... |
|
the Republicans simply aren't "newsworthy."
Just another bunch of old white guys in dark suits. Not much to see there or talk about.
We, OTOH, have either the first woman or the first African-American to run for President on a major party line. We also have one hell of a campaign with mud flying all over the place.
This is the sort of thing that gives media wet dreams.
Now, should we ever actually get a nominee, the press will have a good ol' time with him or her for a while until it gets down to talking about November. Then we'll see the dirty tricks from the other side and how well we fight back. Wanna bet the press won't dare take random dumps on a woman or black man? Wanna bet they dump on the guy who dumps on a woman or a black man?
It'll be a lot of fun watching everybody squirm.

there, we know nothing about their policy or plans.. and you are right.. repugs who were willing to vote for Edwards in the GE or cross over in the states they were allowed, are voting for McCain.

Wholly Moly...I about damn near flipped but had to remain calm (it is my wife ;-)...she and her friends are seriously considering McCain...due solely on PERCEPTIONS presented in the media.
Divorce is out of the question...I just have to send her some links to some good articles...thank god for DU...

7. They are. By far. But seriously, |

we'd be bitching if they weren't covering us, and now we're bitching that they are.

8. I'm complaining on the quality of coverage |
|
My candidate, Kucinich, was basically frozen out. Now they are covering Obama and Clinton, but in a superficial and negative way.
