No matter how many times Hillary supporters throw this in my face, |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 03:34 PM by Big Blue Marble
I will not, can not vote for her. I have voted for Democrats again, and again, and again because of the courts especially the SC.
This is always the last ditch effort to scare us into voting, I have fallen it for each and every time until now.
And the court has moved farther and farther to the right. So why is that an argument to vote for her solely for this reason?
This time if its Hillary, I am taking a pass. If there is no viable third party candidate, I will leave the top of ticket blank.
Nope. No scare tactics will cause me to vote for such an unappealing candidate who voted for an illegal war and who will do what ever it takes, no matter if that includes lies to get elected.
This really strikes a chord in me. The Clintons think they can treat the voters as if we are idiots and we will come scurrying back under her umbrella because of the courts.
By the way the courts are loaded with conservatives, young conservatives and will be so for a long time. It is already too late. Most cases that impact our lives are decided in the lower courts. They never get to the SC. Do you understand that these lower courts are already overloaded with young conservative judges that will be there for most of our lives. To use a pun, the court issue is mostly a moot point.
The only chance we have now is to get the people on our side. And the only Democrat that is going to do that Is Obama.

I am getting more unhappy with HRC by the day, but I will hold my nose in November if it comes to that. Even the "moderate" Republicans have gone so far off the edge of reason that 4 more years of this stuff could destroy this country. The stakes are too high.

9. As a fellow Obama supporter I ask that you reconsider. I will vote for the Democrat... |
|
in the General Election, even though I don't like Hillary.
Posts like these give Hillary Clinton supporters excuses to do the same thing to Obama. Please don't open up that can of worms because we will all lose if Democrats can't get behind the nominee.

Because that's the kind of judge Bill put in, and I think we can trust Hillary on this.

18. I have every confidence she would select great Supreme Court Justices. |
|
I also know that she would make excellent appointments to the lower courts as well.
Court appointments are just one important part of governing. Judgement on the use of our military power is another. She has not shown effective judgement when she authorized sending our troops to Iraq or sending a positive signal to Bush on Iran.
Both of these votes were to show her macho toughness on military issues. That was more important to her than resisting the misuse of our troops.
As much as I care about our courts, I care about our imperial reach and its impact on the world far more.
That is one of the main reasons, I cannot affirm her candidacy by voting for her.

21. I am part of the party. I have worked and supported this party since the sixties. |

I have volunteered for candidates. Worked phone banks. And given thousands of dollars and you want me to leave because my core values are more important that supporting a broken candidate that will tear this party apart if she wins the nomination.
Were you around in 68? If not, get your facts straight. Lots of Dems walked because they no longer felt welcome and Humphrey lost to Nixon, leaving the party in a state it has never truly recovered from. So before you start telling us to leave, you might want to think of the long-term consequences of your temper tantrum.

20. Its just as well you spend a day meditating on your priorities. |
|
Mine are:
1) Country 2) Party 3) Candidate
Now is it really that you think McCain is better than Clinton for this nation? Fine. But that's not what it sounds like. If that was what you thought, you would probably be keeping it to yourself on DU. What you are doing instead is talking about it, attempting to manipulate people into thinking Obama needs to be elected or a bunch of Dems will stay home. What you don't understand is that it turns me OFF to your candidate...So his backers are the sort of people who put candidate before party and nation? They put winning above the well being of all? What does that say about Obama???

23. I'm voting for the Democratic candidate...but I have a question? |
|
Would you vote for Hillary IF...John Edwards or Barak Obama was the VP?
Would you vote for the first woman president IF McCain promised to start a draft and send more troops to Iraq?
Would you vote for Hillary IF Mitt Romney promised to get rid of social security and medicare?
Think about it! Do the best thing; not the "right" thing. Politics is dirty and a compromise.
Personally, I just hope they count the votes!

24. I will be glad to answer all your questions. |
|
1. No I will not vote for HRC even if I like her VP choice. It would be very sad to me if Obama or Edwards would sell out on her ticket. It repudiate everything that Obama's campaign is about.
2. As long as we have a Democratic Congress, they will decide, not McCain or any other president as to whether or not we have a draft. I will assume that if they make that decision it will be for the good of this country. I personally think that if we had had the draft, we would have never gone into Iraq. The protests from young people would have stopped it cold.
3. Same answer as 2, Democratic Congress will protect SS. Bush couldn't even gut it with a repuke congress because our minority held firm.
Some the time politics means playing dirty. All the time politics means compromise. The best thing is always stay with your core values, even if it means you stand alone.
