Poll question: Do You Think Over The Next 40 Years You'll Have More Chances To Vote For a Black Person, Or A Woman? |
|
I'd say it's clearly a woman.
There are 16 female senators and nine female governors serving in the United States right now.
There is one black governor and one black senator.
Does anyone honestly think that based on this, it's more likely that Hillary Clinton would be the only woman you'd ever have a chance to vote for, for president?
Obama is the one and only time, probably in your life, you'll have the opportunity to vote for a black person for president.
That's not a REASON to vote for him, of course. But it is, IMO, a statement of reality.
So over the next 40 years, do you think you'll have more chances to vote for a black person, or a woman?

Things must be getting pretty desperate if you're reduced to this.

6. no, but look at all the gains women have made over just the past 20 years |
|
and since they're more than half the population, it would stand to reason there will be more female candidates for president over the next couple of years. There's certainly a lot of potential out there right now.

12. You're Right - That's Not a Reason to Vote For Barack Obama |
|
And no matter who the nominee is, if they get trounced in the election, my prediction is the Party will not allow a black or female candidate to rise to the top of the pool for another 25 years.

13. I don't think after the next 10 years we'll have any chance to vote. |
|
Period.
Unless it's like the old Soviet Union elections...winners decided in advance and everyone required to go cast a ballot to make it look like it's fair.
Almost like this year's elections here.

18. well, black women are women |
|
and based on a poll I offered up a few days ago, most people identify with their gender more than their race.

If Obama wins, the only thing that is different, is the color of his skin. He's still a man. Women have been silenced for TWO HUNDRED AND NINTEEN FUCKING YEARS.

21. I doubt that we'll get to vote 40 years from now |
|
global warming will have wiped out a significant portion of our species by then, and we'll probably be living under law long before. Endless natural disasters, wars, and food and water shortages will ensure that. Thanks all to those now who wouldn't trouble themselves with the issue!
