I was going to vote for Obama, but the SHEER VENOM to Hillary makes me realize why we need a woman |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 01:08 PM by synesthesia
Ugh, how petty can people here be? So either a woman has to be cold to be strong, or she has to be manipulative to show any emotion?
I'm in favor of Obama because he was against the war, but if we don't break the glass ceiling ONCE AND FOR ALL, we're never going to get past this rampant sexism (even on a so called 'progressive' forum). And it's becoming clear that it's not about Hillary, but about now wanting a woman in charge.
She cries seeing an old friend, and everyone here parrots freeper talking points?
Hasn't Hillary been through enough from the repukes for us? She has suffered their attacks for so long.
I will be casting my vote for Hillary so my daughter doesn't have to be ridiculed for showing emotion. So she can be strong without being seen as uncaring.
edit: to those who are saying I shouldn't just vote for a woman
it's not because she's a woman, but because we have to break the glass ceiling, which i thought we were making progress on
but then i log on here to see people ridiculing hillary for showing emotion, and i realize we're still in the 1950s, and if not hillary, then WHEN? and how can my daughter grow up in this filth: what's next, she has fat ankles!
Hillary has had to put up with this hate for decades from the repuke wingers, and although she's too corporate for me, voted for the war, which I protested, it sickens me when people act like she's Bush

is ALL the "ugliness of this place" due to sexism, in your mind?
90% of the long-standing members of my ignore list - from before anyone announced for this presidential race - are now Hillary supporters.
That may not tell you anything, but it says something to me.

Of course, my ignore list is populated with DLC assholes who come here to cajole and blame liberals for everything, so the fact that they support the queen of the DLC comes to no surprise to me.

11. You're changing your vote because of some idiots on DU? |
|
If you want to vote for Hillary because you think she'd be the best leader of the country, that's great. But to do it based on the objections on some super-partison blowhards seems hasty. If there's anything I've learned on DU it's that people will say and do anything, regardless of logic, to tear down another candidate.
I hope that you vote your heart and your conscience.

Well, do whatever you want. Im hoping you realise that what a few idiots here say doesnt change policy, such as the important iwr war in iraq bill which obama was against. please think about your decision.

|
They've been slamming HRC since they joined. Now, they are "changing" their candidate so they can slam the OTHER one. It's a pattern I've been noticing the last few weeks amongst certain posters.
And yeah, OP, you know I'm right. I'm sick of this divisive garbage on here.

It doesn't represent this country. As an Obama supporter, hell, it doesn't even represent me.
This place is going to get really ugly, unfortunately. One way or another people are going to lash out.
I, for one, won't be here tomorrow.

24. Vote for who you want. And if you want to blame your vote on posters at DU, go for it. |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 12:50 PM by John Q. Citizen
i have two daughters, Im voting for Obama, but not because of posters on DU.
I'm trying to raise my kids to not be sexists. In other words, that we can't judge people based on what sex they happen to be.
I tell them that there are women who are jerks and there are men who are jerks.
There are women who are wise strong and loving and there are men who are wise strong and loving.
Same thing with skin tone, issues of physical beauty, body shapes, etc.
I've voted for a woman for Vice President twice, and in the second case I thought she would have been better at the top of the ticket.
I'm not sure how people battle sexism by basing their choice on the sex of a candidate, but maybe I'm missing something that you see and I don't.

Jeepers... I'm sure Putin will respect someone who cries. The next president has to do business with some pretty cold people. The next president cannot look emotionally weak.

Nobody in their right mind would let some anonymous posters on a message board influence their choice of candidate.
Nobody. In their right mind.
