DU - An Unauthorized Notabiography
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 11:57 AM by CorpGovActivist
http://www.blurb.com/home/3">Have printing press, will travel, and will wield against the GOP ticket.

The thread title is just a fun idea for Skinner and the other Founders, who figured out early that, "freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one." -- A.J. Liebling

:toast:

But for others with something to say, a family history or genealogy that needs a short or limited printing, etc.: Enjoy!

Not just for primaries, but useful for them, nevertheless.

1. Now this is neat
and not that expensive. I've been printing family histories for years, but only with the Kinko-style comb bindings. These look really classy. Will check on this more when I'm home and not on my lunch break.

4. My partner brought this to my attention...
... he's the super-turbo-robo-geek (think Terminator, only with cars and computers up on blocks on the front lawn; thank goodness we don't have a lawn).

Hope he finds many uses for it. I think it helps overcome that mental block. If you can self-publish, what's the harm in "finally getting around" to "putting the finishing touches" on that manuscript you've been working forever. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8491896865632168074">How you comin' on that novel, ya been workin' on there? How's that going for you? Hmmm?

5. He has a collection of rejection letters
but hasn't given up hope. He moved to Germany, with us in 2002, and says he will not move back to US, we came back to soon, but the weather is a killer on old bones. I just talked to him, telling him about the Green fairy lamp, and your post.
You remind me of him in your post, cryptic, thought provoking, and entertaining, you should consider writing yourself.

6. Proud parents and rejection letters...
... are like matter and anti-matter.

:toast:

My younger brother is the one pursuing the publishing circuit right now; his rejection letters are getting more and more personal, with actual pointers and suggestions for publishing houses more in line with his style and genre.

What I wouldn't give to have http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4312540&mesg_id=4312540">audiotapes of our bunkbed conversations growing up.

There might be a little bit of material there.

I tease him that I plan to be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_van_Gogh_%28art_dealer%29">Theo to his Vincent. We'll see.

PM me with which houses he's tried. I can double-check with my bro to see if he can cross-reference, and maybe throw out a suggestion.

"He moved to Germany, with us in 2002,"

Ach! Sehr gut! Wir mussen eine bier haben. Oder zwei. Oder acht.

:toast:

"and says he will not move back to US, we came back to soon, but the weather is a killer on old bones."

Which part?

"I just talked to him, telling him about the Green fairy lamp, and your post."

Love that picture. It just grabs on so many levels, huh?

"You remind me of him in your post,"

Thanks. Smart-ass sons, UNITE!

"cryptic,"

http://www.sphinxter.org/">Yup, that'd be me. How the hell else does a secret society get formed, anyway? Somebody has to dish out a little no radio, soap, ya know?

"thought provoking,"

Those will be the first banned activities when the riddle runs its course. No more thinking. Bad form.

"and entertaining,"

A beggar's bowl should at least have good acoustics, I like to say.

"you should consider writing yourself."

Nah. I'm thinking of plunking down an app to be a valet to Prince Harry. That's gotta come with a schweet ennui en suite, ya know?

; )

- Dave

P.S. Next time he gives you something to review, rip it the hell to shreds. Just to get a rise out of him. Guaranteed to light a spark in his head that leads to a critical improvement, and - if you can manage to maintain the facade for a few days - guaranteed to provide amusement for you. Have a little visit with the Green Fairy, and lay down the red pen ripdown. If it makes the edgy difference between "another" letter and a deal, DeutscheBier > DeutscheBank.

7. What a good brother, if it pans out
His rejection letters started coming while he was in high school, from Harper's I found the story, nosy Mom, I was not privy to much after that. Pretty racy story for the time 1998. He went on to college, up in your area, Annapolis, and had a few things published, but for the life of me I can't think of the publication, I will have to hunt for that one.
We were in Wurzburg for 11/2 years, and then in Heidelberg for 4 years, loved it, miss it. Am allergic to beer, agh what we get with age.
Good luck with Harry.

8. I'll try to be decent to him even if it doesn't.*
"His rejection letters started coming while he was in high school, from Harper's"

Aim high.

"I found the story, nosy Mom, I was not privy to much after that."

Still serving time on that offense?

"Pretty racy story for the time 1998."

 <---- I have the vapuhs.

"He went on to college, up in your area, Annapolis,"

As in, The Naval Academy?

:patriot: <----- if so, our thanks

 <---- took the oath as a Midshipman, but Crohn's is disqualifying

"and had a few things published, but for the life of me I can't think of the publication, I will have to hunt for that one."

Dear Penthouse Forum...

"We were in Wurzburg for 11/2 years, and then in Heidelberg for 4 years, loved it, miss it."

Any pics online from your time there?

"Am allergic to beer, agh what we get with age."

My partner wants to know what, exactly, the consequences are if you do drink (risk/reward?), what the initial signs are, whether they have any known treatments to slow its insidious progression, where he can donate to advance the cure, and - most of all - what the hell you did in your prior life to be meted out such a cruel and unusual punishment?

"Good luck with Harry."

Eh. Ain't no thing. I've already charmed the pants off one prince.

9. He always did go for the gusto, still does
and got the date wrong it was 95 a story about a transsexual taxi ride.
College St. John's,sorry about Crohn's don't know much about it though
It wasn't Penthouse, he's not a subscriber.
The beer allergy reaches far wider, am allergic to almost everything enzymes, but trying to find a doc that would think your allergic to food and drugs at this time is almost impossible.
The German docs told me to eat rice, potato, and lettuce, they are the cleanest of foods.
I would love to have a beer, but it could kill me. Histamines, this way going on 4 years
Glad you found your prince
Found mine over 30 yrs ago in Germany
I am computer illiterate, so no site on line with all of our travels
If you would like to see some pm me and I'll send you some views from our apartment.

"sorry about Crohn's don't know much about it though"

"It wasn't Penthouse, he's not a subscriber."
