Almost every single Obama supporter I know has reasoned and rational logic behind their choice of candidate. But every once in a great while one on DU will say something like this to me. Wow. Just... wow.

7. The way the question is worder, the answer is "no". The symbols and |

code words were there, but not directed at "racists". Quite the contrary.
I don't think Hillary or Obama would have much luck with the David Duke vote.

as to many - MANY - Democrats, The Clintons are heroes. I think democrats should be debating the strengths of Clinton/Obama and not something like does The Clintons use codewords of race. Again - if this was a poll and debate of race dealing with Obama, I would assume Democrats would be asking is this a healthy debate.
I don't see how this debate is helping and unify the party. It reminds me of in 2004 democrats debated other democrats on if they thought Kerry was a lair because he threw someone else's medals over the white house fence and not his own. We argued on DU then that it didn't seem like a health debate and it turned out to be a snowball effect toward slander.
I just don't see why we can't debate the strengths of the two candidates and the contrast instead of going into the shadowlands of creating or destroying character. I see more wound than unity.

17. Some comments have bothered me. |
|
There is the it took a president (LBJ) instead of activists (MLK) to bring about change. And of course the "madrassa" memes from surrogates. That all adds up to a show of lack of character that I took note of. The fact I haven't been using it to attack HRC shows a little character on my part, I think.

MLK's dream would not have been realized without LBJ passing it. My position is that LBJ wouldn't have been doing it without MLK's activism first and JFK deciding it must be done.

"Dr. King's dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act," Clinton said. "It took a president to get it done." (Politico, 1/7/08) Dr King campaigned for Lyndon Johnson, btw.

of LBJ. My problems with him lay around the Vietnam war, and not civil rights. His great society ended up being somewhat victimized by the war. My original premise is that the heavy lifting for change that took MLK's life was done by activists and shouldn't be subjugated.

with attack and counter attack dealing with race. If we start saying "Clinton this..." shouldn't we also start the whole "Obama that..." and then we're back to throwing race and mud back and forth again? Does that help unify the party? Is this what Obama and Clinton really want us screaming at each other about?

Google jewish+slumlord+ghetto if you dare.
This is a game to you. But my forebears who were Jewish inner-city business owners suffered horribly from the divisive politics that Hillary dredged up that day.
As an atheist American of Jewish descent, I'm not caught up in the religious politics that divide Jew and Arab. In fact my domestic partner is a beautiful Arab-American woman. Because I'm not blinded by Zionism, I can easily see the parallels between my Jews like my grandfather and the Arabs and Middle Easterners who do business in the black ghetto today.
I won't lecture you on the moment when the Blackstone Rangers moved in on the southside, or tales of racist white cops taking protection money and smashing windows. Whatever Rovian genius slipped that word into her debating prep was certainly aware of the history, though.

You say something so bizarre that it can only be excused as ignorance or humor, call me child, and then cry that you've been insulted? Claiming Clinton intentionaly was fed an anti-Semitic code word by her Rovian puppet masters to describe a Syrian linked to Obama is insane. You might want to protect your ego by calling that an insult if you need to, you know how fragile your hold on the real world really is, we can only guess.
