Who will McCain choose for his VP running mate? I don't think it will be the Huckster |
|
I don't think there is any way that McCain will run with the Huckster on his ticket just to make the conservative base happy. Sure, the Huckster would cinch the religious right, but that group is going to vote Republican anyway, no matter who he runs with, just like the conservative Republican base will, too. I think the Huckster appeals to the types of voters that will vote for the Repuke candidate no matter who he is or who he runs with. Plus I think the Huckster would scare away any Independents who don't value religious fanatacism and anti-abortion views as much as the Huckster does.
I think McCain will try to run with someone on the younger side for sure. Since McCain's weak spot is supposed to be the economy, I could see him running with Romney, were it not for their history of bad blood and were it not for the possibility that Romney might be the only Republican around who could actually scare the Religious Right away.
I can't see Gullini being his choice, it would be like having two of the same. I sure hope it isn't Gullini, anyhow, because I despise that fucker worse than almost anyone.
His buddy Lieberman is out because he knows that Lieberman is despised by conservatives.
I think McCain will be looking for someone LIKE Romney, only not Romney because of their past history and because of Romney's religion.
Any ideas who the other asshole will be on their ticket and what type of people they'll want that person to appeal to?

pick someone who is a bit younger, and strong in economic policy. It may be a governor, or some other non-congressional area.
I would disagree with the idea that Lieberman is unpopular with conservatives. But I think that he would be considered for another high-ranking position if McCain does win.

7. Allen is repugnant enough that it would put him on any repuke short list of VP possibilities, surely |
|
The more repugnant they are, the more that the repukes seem to go for them.

Relatively young next to McCain; a governor; relatively moderate, as Republicans go (and the GOP needs more help in swing states; the family-values crowd are probably voting Republican no matter what).

21. This is the difference between them and us--they DON'T care what their voters think. |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 07:00 PM by rocknation
McCain is proving to be most popular (or, more specifically, the least least popular). But as far as their leadership concerned, so what?--it doesn't suit THEIR purposes. To me, that amounts to a complete disconnect between what the leadership and the voters want.
Over on our side, on the other hand, the real fight is between the moderate and progressive ends of the party rather than the candidates. But that's because we have two quality candidates, whereas GOP voters have to choose between the lesser of two evils.

Imagine that, me hearties! McCain/Rice against a Obama/Hillary ticket or a Hillary/Obama ticket!
