I just donated to Obama for the first time and they make me agree to the following before doing so |
|
"This contribution is not made from the funds of an individual registered as a federal lobbyist or a foreign agent, or an entity that is a federally registered lobbying firm or foreign agent."
Does anyone know if they all have to have donors affirm this?

are not registered as lobbyists. don't really know how ethical his contributions are as far as that goes. seems like he is stretching the truth in a couple places but for the most part if you are a lobbyist that is registered as a lobbyist you will not find a home with obama.

9. This isn't the corporate disclaimer |
|
I looked at it a second time, and this isn't the traditional corporate, foreign persons, disclaimer. This is strictly lobbyists and they aren't prohibited by law. Isn't that right?

16. i think that is correct, i just read it again |
|
i don't think most people mention that and it wouldn't be illegal if he did accept them.
interesting. but i can see how most of his donations are small donors.

7. I think that's Federal law that requires them to do this. |
|
Lobbyists are at least in theory not allowed to directly give money to politicians. They have to go through a level of indirection or two.

Registered lobbyists can give to federal candidates. And I don't believe that any specific disclosure is required.

to get campaign funds? Why hasn't someone admitted this was illegal? It's like going to King George to put the royals in power.

I remember the outrage over China giving funds to Bill Clinton. It was declared illegal after that.
I remember discussing the actions of Hillary and Rudi going to London to raise funds with an Ohio Elder lawyer. We were both outraged. He later decided to run on the city council and do public service (that area of Ohio full of election fraud).

22. I believe the lobbyist part is for all Obama contributions, but is NOT required by law |
|
from fec.gov: Prohibited Contributions and Expenditures The FECA places prohibitions on contributions and expenditures by certain individuals and organizations. The following are prohibited from making contributions or expenditures to influence federal elections:
Corporations; Labor organizations; Federal government contractors; and Foreign nationals.
Furthermore, with respect to federal elections:
No one may make a contribution in another person's name. No one may make a contribution in cash of more than $100. In addition to the above prohibitions on contributions and expenditures in federal election campaigns, the FECA also prohibits foreign nationals, national banks and other federally chartered corporations from making contributions or expenditures in connection with state and local elections.
