I suggest a cease fire toward Hillary supporters at this point. |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 01:24 AM by joshcryer
I mean, what's the point. The math is obvious. Some of the most prolific Hillary supporters are finally recognizing it. So I suggest a cease fire and just let Hillary supporters be in their own world.

I think Obama supporters should be gracious to Hillary supporters because those supporters will need to work hard for Obama in the fall.

19. You do understand that I do not like Obama. |
|
And I am dead serious about "may vote for Obama but will give not one cent nor one second of my time". I gave money and time to Al Gore because I had great respect for him and knew that he was the right person for the job. I have the same beliefs about HRC.
I am tired of seeing the media bash HRC 24/7 and praising Obama. I see this as a replay of Gore/Bush 2000, where Gore is HRC and Obama is Bush. I am not liking it one bit. I will have to give great consideration whether I will vote for Obama or write-in someone else (should Obama get the nomination). We will see what happens in TX/OH. If Obama gets the nomination, I am out of DU. I will keep in contact with a few posters I know well via email.
For the record, I sent Kerry money but did not volunteer for him.
The Clinton's did great work for many only to be cast aside and smeared. It makes me wonder whether it is worth it or not to go out and protest.

to vote "present" in November.
If this kind of rhetoric doesn't stop:
blogs.abcnews.com/political...ton-d.html

Mr. Obama needs to understand something. We, the "older" more established base of the Dem party have our opinions too. He is bashing, not only the Clintons... but those of us who voted for Bill and will vote for Hillary. Those who he thinks are "in the bag" to vote for him.
Mr. Obama can expect to get less in the General Election, than the 47% he thinks Hillary can get, if he doesn't knock this off. And NOW.
I am fed up.

Clinton right now, chances are good that I'll be knocking on doors this summer for her if she's the nominee.

I do not like seeing it. It can even be seen on so-called "progressive radio". Schultz has turned out to be a real bastard. His hate of the Clinton's rival's that of Sean Hannity. Maddow can't help but be giddy at any news that points to Clinton's demise. She will be the perfect left wing version of Tucker Carlson (blowhard pundit). Kos, Huffpost, TPM are also in the same boat as far as I am concerned. This is why I call myself an independent/moderate. Afterall, many of my views don't fit with either party.

I see no reason for gloating.
I've had my candidate lose and it is heartbreaking.
I think the vast majority of Hillary supporters on DU now, are decent people. I'm sorry, but it appears that some of the questionable Hillary supporters have bolted, with the new DU post limits--and other things changing. I will always feel that most HRC supporters who have now bolted, were working for her campaign.
I don't think that's the case anymore.
Although I didn't support Hillary, I do support being gracious and sensitive to her supporters who are disappointed.

I even posted in a few P2BA threads every now and again. Hell, I got some hateful commentary when I predicted Hillary's mathematical loss a few days (about a week) ago, from Obama supporters no less (they actually thought I was trying to dumb down her "winning" in order to dissuade people from voting!).
And now all I see, 3-4 posts alone about this, is how Hillary is going to fight tooth and nail to the convention. It's just so unrealistic it's a joke. The only way she's still in this is a miracle.

I think Bill Clinton was a very good President. I think Hillary would make an excellent President.
To someone like me who never even considered voting for Reagan, it hurts that Obama doesn't speak highly of those of us who voted and worked for Dems when the tide was against us.
And I agree that some of Obama's supporters on DU sound a lot like W's supporters in the early days of the Bush administration: arrogant and dismissive.
But Obama's positions are better than McCain's positions. And if Obama succeeds in getting as many supporters as the evil Reagan did, then maybe Obama can turn the country around for the better just as Reagan turned it around for the worse.

63. How about you stop attacking Hillary and we'd happily be |
|
in our own little world. 98% of my posts have been defending Hillary...not bashing Obama. It was disgusting around here.
Yes, I guess the math is obvious...but tonight is the first time they have said that in spite of knowing she'd lose these three primaries. Why did they all say...she'd be back in the ballgame after March 4th and have more delegates and it would be up to the super delegates to decide who gets the nomination? Before tonight there was suppose to be a chance. Now I think they knew it all along and just wanted a horse race. It was all a sham...damn MSM! And we all fell for it! Even way back when they were saying she was inevitable. they knew the hatred was out there for the Clintons and the sh** would hit the fan. But they lied...as usual.

66. BTW, I've been talking about the MSM horse race crap forever. |
|
It's so utterly obvious that they wanted a horse race. So obvious that it's not even funny. They got it. And they got the guy with the most "interesting" stories to tell when we get to the GE. Bank on it.

|
What does one mean by "interesting" stories? Have I missed something? I've been putting music on TV rather than listening to our bias MSM. Maybe I'm out of the loop. Or do you just mean interesting crap in general that the right wing and MSM is going to start flinging at our candidate?.

to many so called "progressives" who have assaulted the Clintons. Kos, Huffpost, Josh Marshall, left wing hate radio, etc.... I have no need for them. I will never "kiss the ring" of Kos like the left wing elites do.

There was never any need for the endless derision and nothing came of it except for making Obama supporters look like complete asses.
You fought like a pack of rabid dogs. Please, have a little dignity in victory.

just a little condescending here. Don't gloat. I said this on another thread: I was taught to be gracious in both victory and defeat. Don't kick people when they're down. They just may get up swinging. Another thought: can Obama win without the support of the Hillary voters? I don't think so. The Repubs aren't gone yet. Rove has been reanimated. What Hillary has thrown at Obama will look story time compared to the Repubs. Rove & Co. have plenty of time to gear up the Obama slime machine. Remember, in 2004, we all thought the swift boat thing would go nowhere. After all, it wasn't true. True or not, in the end, it damaged Kerry badly. It cost him a large chunk of the veteran vote. As close as the election was that may have made the difference. The same may be true of Hillary supporters this time. They could make that difference that keeps the Repubs from stealing this one. No candidate is perfect. Everybody has at least one skeleton in their closet. If the MSM haven't found anything on Obama you can bet Rove will. Even if he has to, as usual, make it up. People say they don't like negative campaigning. Well it's worked for the Repubs so far. At least at the presidential level. Just saying.

77. That's a pretty strong statement |
|
I don't think anything is over yet. Anyone willing to accept that also needs to accept that Dems have lost the race for the WH again.
Wake up, step back, think about what is really going on and what the odds would actually be against Obama winning the GE.
Are we conceding the next 4 years? I'm certainly not ready to go there.

Take a look at what history tells us about candidates announced "frontrunners" before OH votes!
Barack has tried hard to evade that label. He knows...... about the potential backlash.

Before declaring victory, you might first see whether Team Hillary doesn't decide on a scorched earth policy.
Remember: she's been "tested." Anything is possible.
