Watching CNN's People Meter, Clinton certainly lost it on the Xerox comment.
Just before, Obama's answer got resounding approval on the meter.

When Clinton responded with the rude comment, the disapproval was clear.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news for the Clinton people here, but only Clinton supporters here like that response.

16. Yeah. I think you're right.
Barack not only looks like a President. He now sounds like a President by showing his command of both economic and foreign policy issues.

not qualities most people are looking for in a President.

But then again >50% voted for Stupid & Smug in 2004, so what do I know.

20. How was the meter when she dodged the direct questions...
about the things she said about Obama in her speeches, like one is ready and the other isn't and I forget the first one? I don't understand why you would say things in your speeches over and over and then not say them when directly asked about them, I would have liked to see her stand by her words. Instead she talked about herself and ignored the questions and on the second one, he even asked her the question a second time after she went on a dodging tangent and then the commentators gave up on it and moved on.

I would rather have a candidate copy someones speeches instead of saying things that they wont back up. We need someone to mena what they say and stand for what they believe in, no more bullshit like bushy has given us.

24. Doesn't matter who likes it. What matters is, will people be repeating it?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if Obama says "change," and people think, "change you can Xerox," then the line is effective.

I didn't see the debate, just monitored it on DU. Thanks to all who contributed. :)

28. Maybe it's effective, but it should never have been HER saying that, because
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 10:50 PM by closeupready
it makes her look small. Her campaign people are the ones who should be talking about this little stuff, and she should be dealing with the big stuff. That's the mistake she made here.

I think she doesn't care anymore, because she realizes she's going to lose, so she just let it rip.

29. We'll just have to see how the media handles it and the public reacts to it.
I think she cares very much. "Let it rip"? It's not like she told him to STFU or anything. That would be letting it rip.

Then the audience would join in, and everyone watching at home, and DU would have 2,000 simultaneous "STFU" threads. :)
