Welcome Aboard Clinton Supporters & Undecideds
Former Clinton supporters, and former undecideds...

I want to welcome aboard all who - after Obama strongly demonstrated AGAIN his substance and intellect and command of policy in last night's debate - have made the decision to support him. I welcome your support not only in the nominating contest, but as one more person who can help us ALL to change this country for the better.

As a LOOOOOoooooooonnnnnnngggggg time Obama supporter (i've been running a pro-Obama website since Long long long before he was
even IN the presidential race) - I am sometimes frustrated at the "no substance" bleme. (tho i actually embrace and laugh at "cult bleme".) Since I have known for many many months that Obama has both substance, accomplishments galore, and intellect - as well has his widely understood political gifts.

But I HAVE felt like Barack has made real strides in the debates where his performance at first was
not so strong, to the point now where i feel he really gains converts in each and every debate. People see visibily in each debate that the "All Talk no Substance" bleme is pattently false. The more debates the better as far as that is concerned.

I've seen him working to build this national organization - and this infrastructure - and this fundraising machinery - and this
message that DOES appeal to so many people for a long time. I've been convinced he IS building something permanent, and incredibly valuable to our future efforts (as Democrats an as Americans) all along. In some ways - he is really building the future of the Democratic Party.

When I campaigned here in Albuquerque - I met a Clinton supporter waiving his sign at a polling place like me. He said to me - "I think Obama is central to the future of the Democratic Party." He was still hoping for a Clinton win (and a Clinton/Obama ticket) - but he also chairs a local Democratic voters club - and he said to me, "You know, we realy need some younger people involved. Some 30 somethings and 40 somethings - because practically everybody in the club is over 50 - and almost everyone WHO IS ACTIVE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY in New Mexico is over 50. We desperatly need youth, energy and vigor and new perspectives in this party."

I was blown away to hear this comming from an ARDENT Clinton supporter. It spoke volumes. I imagine the same may be true in many other states.

Obama is crafting - quite ingeniously - a "new working majority". I think he is sober that this is NOT an easy task - and that HE cannot do it ALONE. Clinton was gracious in not attacking indescriminately in the debate last night. At least in part, I believe, because CLINTON HERSELF HAS COME TO RECOGNIZE that Obama is truly someone special, and someone critical to the future of the Party - NO MATTER WHO WINS the nomination. SHE has seen his SUBSTANCE, and her heart is frankly "not in it" when it comes to trying to beat him down as "just an orator".

But as you say - he is DOING it, and more importantly - HE is bringing in litterally DROVES of new people - people who have NEVER done ANYTHING political in their lives - and making them CARE about their government and what happens again.

I am delighted to have you ALL on board - and part of what is TRULY a movement. Please consider making even a small donation or getting involved in the effort in some way.

I call Texas every night - have been doing so for past 2 weeks - for the Obama campaign. It's alot of FUN, and quite rewarding personally. Plus it reinforces my STRONG BELIEF that it is only OUR ENERGY, SWEAT, AND ENDURANCE that can and will change this country.

"block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand."

2. I will seriously consider writing HRC in on my ballot in the fall.
The arrogance of Obama and his base of supporters does not help him win over converts.

3. you are free to write in anyone you like
But there is no arrogance here.

There is alot of realism. Alot of realism about how hard change is. A request for EVERYone to get involved - not just in elections
but also in actually working to make the country better. A call to ask yourself what you can do that is POSITIVE
and productive. Maybe it is working in a homeless shelter - maybe it is registering voters in your city or town?

I have registered over 1000 Democrats since last August. Many of whom had never been spoken to about politics or why
it might matter to THEM by anyone ever.

There was a HUGE arrogance on the Clinton campaign, and with many posters here. It has subsided and been replaced by
bitterness for some. But the arrogance was with the Clinton campaign:

FROM DAY 1.

Obama ran his campaign with humility and hard work from the very beginning, and it has paid off for the Democratic party.

Regardless of if he wins the nomination or not.

Obama is the only one with arrogance.

10. you seem a little bitter
that is unfortunate. Your post lacks substance.

There are litterally thousands of people who have commented on the arrogance of the Clinton campaign - based on inevitability.

You need to back something up - rather than just saying "your post is bullshit" if you want to be effective.

6. I won't write her in.
I will vote for him.

But if he wins, I will not work for him or give him one dime. I will work for all the other Democrats downticket.

7. You've got to be one of the most objectionable DUers I've ever encountered.
You're filled with hate for anything not pro-Hillary. So spare us the lecture about Obama's "base of supporters." You get exactly what you deserve from them.

11. I would say the same about you.
Obama supporters are filled with hate for the Clinton's. It makes no sense since just a year ago they were held in such high regard.

Supporting Obama doesn't equal hating the Clintons.

15. Exactly - I started a "We Love Hillary Supporters" thread yesterday
(sorry i got confused and replied to wrong person earlier)

but I in no way "Hate everything Hillary".

I have said I would vote for her as the nominee - and support her and Democrats all down the ticket

The blanket statement that because someone posts a well-reasoned analysis of Obama and Clinton, and yet supports
Obama - makes them a "Clinton hater" is absurd and offensive.

12. wow.... such bitterness
and personal attack to boot?

I did not say anything about hating Senator Clinton. I think she is a very good person, with a very solid career. I may disagree with some of her choices and priorities - but I don't hate her at all.

I thought she was very classy and connected well in last night's debate. She is actually a brilliant debater, and always
does well in debates. It is her strongest suit IMO.

What I saw last night, however, was that She Herself - GAVE OBAMA HIS DUE - and in so doing SHE quashed the "myth" that he lacks substance.

She recognizes that he will play a pivotal role in the future of the Party - regardless of who wins the nomination.

Just a suggestion to you - you might try a post with substance, rather than personal insults.
I don't particularly care if you insult me - but it's just not that effective.

8. Did not say he has
What I said is that the campaign he was waged - and the people he has brought into civic action - many for the first time in their lives - will help the Democratic Party for years to come.

Regardless of whether he wins the nomination or not - Clinton supporters should give Obama his due. I'm not saying they should vote for him - but if you read my story - I spoke about an ARDENT, ACTIVIST long time Clinton supporter who firmly recognized that
Obama will be a critical person in the future of the party.

Regarless of who wins this nominating contest.

Clinton herself implicitly recognized that last night in the Debate - and HERSELF dispelled the myth that Obama lacks substance.

14. I will vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination
I STRONGLY disagree with her on many points.

But I think that not supporting the nominee would be to invite:

1. the repeal of Roe v. Wade
2. continuation of foreign policy of "endless war" and arrogance, and
3. continued destruction of our economy and handing over of everything to the wealthy & elite.

I would suggest - that the bitterness sometimes in evidence on DU - is NOT representative of the real world.

As you know from my post yesterday: "We love U ElsewheresDaughter - We love U BlackVelvet04"

which you kicked multiple times. - I am not a Hillary hater or person "blindly" backing Obama.

Even the ARDENT Clinton suporter i wrote of in my post (he had actually worked in the Clinton Whitehouse and
knew Hillary PERSONALLY) - said he will "vote for Obama and Work his butt off for him" if he
gets the nomination.

22. I understand and it's not that I hate Obama or his supporters...
I just can't vote for someone who I honestly believe would be disastrous for the country.

There is no anger or hatred involved and I greatly appreciate your thread, but I have to do what I feel is the right thing for me to do.

17. Sorry- Not feeling very friendly towards the Obama camp
Don't welcome me on board because I am not on board. I am disgusted by the behavior I have seen and I am no where near ready to pretend none of it happened.

I do not have the same sense of awe and wonderment about Obama as you do. He does not inspire me. I don't want to be part of his "movement". I will not be sending him money. I will not be campaigning for him anytime soon.

I do not believe in your Messiah. But just like Jesus.....I feel like this " nice enough guy, just not my God"

19. I did not welcome you - i welcomed those who have recently decided
I welcomed those who had changed their minds. That is the first line of the post.

If you still support Mrs. Clinton - that is perfectly fine.

I did not say Obama is a "God or Jesus" either - though I actually find the "cult bleme" - more ammusing than
offensive.

What I'm pointing out is that even Senator Clinton - recognizes that Obama has accomplished something unusual.
Which is why she did not "tear him down" on live TV last night when handed several golden opportunities.

She showed grace and character - and yes RESPECT for the human being (not deity) Barack Obama.

There are some of her followers on DU who should probably follow her lead at this point. Not saying they should
vote for him. But they should recognize what he has ALREADY done for the Party.

win or lose.

20. Yep, the hypocrisy is getting to me now, and his lack of graciousness
in allowing his campaign to trash those last moments of the debate. For God's sake. Really shady. Really low.
