1. Why we can't have congressmen who don't take lobbyist money - Because our laws allow lobbying. Politicians believe they're entitled to be treated to gifts. They honestly do! Until we demand politicians make lobbying illegal, and actually threaten to get their ass out of office if they don't vote in favor of it, this won't change.
2. Why we can't have congressmen who work for average Americans and not just corporations and the rich - Because we don't require the TV and radio media to provide equal political ad time for FREE. The media uses OUR air time for free, they don't pay us for it, they get rich on it, but then don't provide all the air time for politicians so they're all equal. Instead, politicians are forced to pay the media for the use of OUR AIR TIME. If that's the case, politicians should be paying US. Until we demand politicians pass laws that make all TV and air time for politicians before elections, free, this won't change.
3. Why we can't take care of our own before taking care of the world - We don't "take care of" the world. We make loans they have to pay back. And, in the case of such things as Iraq, we kill them, destroy their country, all with our hard-earned money and sacrificing our sons and daughters, then the rich (oil companies, Haliburton, etc.) get rich on it. Until we demand politicians STOP attacking other countries on our dollar and making American war corporations and oil companies rich, this won't stop.
4. Why we can't have the manufacturing jobs in America we once had - Because George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton happily approved NAFTA. Now we're screwed unless a president and a Congress come along who will do our bidding and either modify NAFTA or eliminate it altogether.
5. Why we can't have healthcare like some poorer nations do - Because this country was founded in such a way as to make it seem equal, but in reality it's equal only for the rich. Everything about this country promotes the rich man over the rest. In fact, it's so bad that when the rich man (corporations) are exploiting the rest and doing very well, the media reflects it as the economy doing great.
6. Why we can't hold our politicians accountable anymore for anything - Because most of this country doesn't even bother to read a paper, a book, or anything and we're dumbed down. The country then blames teachers when the fact is that the parents of the kids are reading nothing, investigating nothing, and falling for the first thing the media shows on TV. Most people are not like DUers. DUers are highly informed. Most people don't know ANYTHING, so they don't even know they're being screwed. They know they're being screwed but think it's ___________________ (fill in the blank with the new Republican scapegoat du jour). 7. Why we can't impeach an asshole president who lies to us constantly - Because politicians have been receiving money from entities who are benefiting or stand to benefit from the war in Iraq. For example, Haliburton, oil companies, many others, a few Jewish lobbies, etc. etc. And as we know, politicians feel they're entitled to receive gifts from lobbies, AND they need money to run for office because the media refuses to give them our radio and TV air time for free despite the fact that it's OURS and the media is stealing it from us.
Why we can't imprison a bastard who outs a CIA agent - See #7.
Why we have to go to war just because the president wants to - Because we've been under the truly fucked up spell of Republicans since Reagan the bastard was in office. The reason we've been under the spell is because this country has always been in love with the cowboy mentality and the whole Republican ideology is based on pretending they're cowboys.
Why we can't buy Cuban cigars for 60 damn years - Because the mega-wealthy Miami Cuban mafia (the 1st ones to leave Cuba when their properties were going to be confiscated) has been financing Republicans, and, to a smaller degree, Democrats VERY WELL. In exchange, Republicans, and to a somewhat lesser degree, Democrats strangle Cuba and make sure other countries don't do business with it. This Miami Cuban mafia stole a lot of Cuba's money when it escaped from Cuba, so they set themselves up very well here in the U.S. A lot of the Miami Cuban mafia were murderers of students and of anyone who dared speak up against the assassin-dictator that existed prior to Castro. This Miami Cuban mafia were the major exploiters of the majority of the Cuban population, and they miss that terribly, and would like to go back and re-create the feudal system they had. The U.S. rich misses it too, as it, too, with the blessings of the Miami Cuban mafia, exploited the majority of Cubans and Cuban land and resources.
Why we pay corporate farmers to grow nothing - Because these are financing politicians to run for office.
Why we can't get rid of any politician who lies or cheats - Because this country has made itself illiterate (and they can't blame teachers for it - they did it all on little selves).
Why there is not a salary cap on CEO pay - Because Republicans worship the rich (corporations), and believe they should have more rights than the average person. Therefore, nothing can touch the rich (corporations).
Why athletes have to be paid so much - Are you sitting down? Because men are hypnotized by sports and think it's fine and dandy that sports run this way. I never understood why any man would root for any team nowadays. After all, they're not real teams. They're bullshit businesses on steroids, hiring any person from anywhere on the globe. A real team would be local, with local people not hired from anywhere else in the planet, not taking steroids, and paying nothing to play, but merely playing on spare time.
Why someone who works harder gets paid less - Because the rich set the rules as to what a well-paid job should be, and these are whatever jobs they have. In my book, the harder or more unpleasant the job, the more they should be paid. The usual bullshit answer provided is that these jobs that should be paid highly require brain power. Bullshit. Some of the dumbest people I've ever known are people in jobs that are well-paid.
