Progressives: Energy and Health Care How do you vote? |
|
Obama's health care plan is much less than Hillary's
Paul Krugman: Clinton’s plan ‘would cover almost twice as many of those now uninsured as a plan resembling Mr. Obama's.' "Specifically, new estimates say that a plan resembling Mrs. Clinton’s would cover almost twice as many of those now uninsured as a plan resembling Mr. Obama's... And both plans seek to make insurance affordable to lower-income Americans. The Clinton plan is, however, more explicit about affordability, promising to limit insurance costs as a percentage of family income. And it also seems to include more funds for subsidies.
Obama voted for Cheney's eenrgy bill which gave 6 billion in subsidies to oil companies:
Obama voted for Bush's 2005 energy bill that contained $6 billion in oil and gas subsidies. In 2005, Obama voted twice for Bush's Energy Bill, HR 6. It contained $6 billion in oil and gas subsidies. Hillary voted against the bill.

2. Hillary wants to resurrect the bs windfall profits tax |
|
The WPT taxes domestic production, and leaves foreign production unscathed. This fact encourages importing of foreign oil -- a direct contradiction of her stated purpose.
Further, the WPT is levied on those who are entitled to the produced oil, which means that about 75,000 Texans will be taxed more on the oil productin from their land. Now don't think that these are a bunch of rich cats sitting back on their duffs (certainly, there are some, but not that many). Rather, it is the small farmer who counts on the royalty check to keep him from having to sell the family farm. It is the hairdresser in Plainview Texas who inherited a sliver of a royalty, which provides just enough to allow her to not have to sign up for public assistance.
Yeah, Hillary's energy plan is great. Everyone is just trying to figure out who it is great for.
