I went to the Nassau County Democratic Party dinner last Monday. It was cool. I saw several well known politicians. Here is the list.
Tom Suozzi (Nassau County Exec.)
Jay Jacobs (Count Party Chair)
Mark Green
Harvey Levinson (County Assessor)
David Denenberg (County Legislator)
David Paterson(NYS Senate Minority Leader)
I am sure there are others that I am forgetting.
It was a cool event. First Hillary spoke. She spoke about Bushco wanting to change our laws back to the 1930's. She was really impressive. She is a great speaker and did a good job with the crowd. I was impressed. So were many of the other woman. The younger woman really looked up to her.
Then Schumer spoke. He is a real public servant. This guy is a class act and a great senator. They said he was the first senator from Brooklyn in 100 years. He spoke in depth about judgeships. He said that the Bushies promised the Christian right the ability to pick judges if they don't challenge Bush. He also said that he was able to convince Judge Rhenquist not to retire until Bushco finish this term. He thinks the next term is good for 3 judges. He was also impressive and endearing.
Finally Suozzi spoke. He was OK. Someone told me that he gave a canned speach that he always gives.
The event was held at the Crest Hollow Country club in Jericho. I was asked about working on 2 campaigns. One would be for the State Senate, the other is congress against Pete King. I want to work the congress one slightly more as long as it's a strong candidate. Some of the powers want me at the State Senate because they feel it's more winnable. We shall see.
