Four ads we should run against * |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 06:30 PM by mot78
1. * being a flip-flopper (ie. on steel tariffs, McCain-Feingold, the 9/11 Commission, Homland Security)
2. Repug hypocrisy on issues they attacked Kerry on (ie. Cheney favoring a gas tax while in Congress)
3. Exposing * for being weak on defense (cutting counter-terror funding for the FBI pre-9/11 to fund SDI, Tora Bora, ignoring Hart-Rudman, recalling the Predator drones in early 2001 that should have killed Osama, his covering up the 9/11 Comission.)
4. The problem with the $87 Billion package that Kerry voted again. Show Halibourton's abuses, and how troops arn't getting body armor or hot meals. Also mention the polls that showed the majority of people AGAINST the package for being a blank check.
...We need to fight offense and defense at once. Also, consider repackaging them issue-by-issue for swing voters in differant states.

1. How about a variation on the Takebackthemedia.org |
|
flash film "Bush Knew"? Timeline of what * did during 9/11 while tragedy was unfolding in NYC ... Not as graphic certainly, but I think the idea of showing what The Occupant was actually doing during that fateful day would prove Kerry's slogan "A Failure of Leadership."

2. As much as some might like that, I don't think it's a good idea |
|
The ad would be too easy to portray as insensitive.

3. I think the takebackthemedia animation is powerful |
|
precisely because the splitscreen highlights Bush's insensitivity.

1 - I want a Sally Struthers-like woman begging people to give-up low college tuition, firefighters' supplies, veterans' benefits, special education funding, etc for the rich peoples' tax cuts. She could tell a sob story about how Diddums McRichyRich would have to wait another month for her diamond-studded pool bottom if the higher bracket tax cuts were canceled.
2 - I want a Bush vs Bush debate, similar to what the Daily Show did last year: Show Bush saying in his debate with Gore that he wanted a foreign policy "based on humility," and then show a conflicting quote. Show Bush promising "no nation building." Show Bush promising to protect America, and then show scenes of vulnerable power plants, water treatment facilities, bridges, ports, etc. Show Bush claiming fiscal responsibility, and then show the current national debt. (And don't say "$1 trillion" - show all of the zeros in that dollar amount.) And so on..
3 - I want one commercial summing-up all of the current investigations going on with the administration: - The Plame Affair - 9/11 (with a mention of the White House's resistance) - Medicare Bill cost estimates - pre-war intelligence - etc Wrap-up the commercial with the phrase "Truth Deficit" somewhere in there. It'll hit on both character and finances.
4 - I want an ad showing how Bush isn't strong on defense HERE AT HOME. Show those facilities I mentioned earlier (power, water, ports, bridges, etc). Mention how our borders are wide-open. Show footage of how only 2% of all cargo containers entering the country are inspected. Remind voters that citizens of NYC and DC - the people with the biggest terrorism targets painted on their backs - overwhelmingly support Kerry to protect them (that's quite an endorsement!). Allude to the fact that we NEED cooperation with foreign countries.. we can't collect intelligence worldwide by ourselves. Etc..
