Nader campaign says it qualifies for federal matching funds
Washington-AP -- Ralph Nader's campaign says the independent presidential candidate has made some quick progress in raising money.

The campaign says it's raised about 600-thousand dollars in the two months since Nader announced his bid for the presidency.

That's enough money to qualify for federal matching funds. It's also well ahead of the fund-raising pace Nader set when he ran for the White House four years ago and got nearly three percent of the vote.

2. Most of the money is probably from Republicans.
This is depressing. Bush is a fundamentalist, selfish zealot. I don't understand how Nader can believe his candidacy helps to defeat Bush. I don't understand how, if Nader does not really believe his candidacy will help to defeat Bush, he would still persist in running.

4. What's the deadline?
I spose people could write him in. Knowing Nader he'll encourage that route?

8. It goes State by State, so I don't know,
and, yeah, there's the write in option.

But the qualifying standard for the general election in most states is small% of registered voters. I saw he didn't make Oregon's ballot and only needed a few thousand signatures. That tells a story.

Don't know what he's encouraging about voting options.

He has come to define "marginal" politically. And that's OK.

I'm voting Dem at the top spots, and looking for a good third party race I can support at the state and local level. If there's none, I vote Dem across the board.

10. In Oregon...
I believe the qualifications are either 15,000 signatures (or it might be 10,000) or an assembly of 1,000 supporters. At his kickoff he only managed to draw ~700 supporters...

12. "What with his age"....????
Your remark is blatant age-ism and age discrimination. It is very disrespectful.

13. No its not...
I love elderly people, I just had heard that he was checking into a retirement home, what with the senility and alzheimers he suffers from.

To give Ralphie Boy the money...and get their Repub friends working hard to put him on the ballot...somewhere!:eyes:

Why they're at it, why don't A.E.I. (Neo-Con Central) and Citizens for Tax Justice (Norquist's group) make Ralphie some below-the-belt, anti-Kerry ads, too?

B-)

16. No, actually, you dont
I believe that Nader's money is coming from those, like me, who are fed up to the gills with (Democratic Party) cowardice and complicity.

19. Cowardice?
Nader supporters are the real cowards. They're too afraid to enter the political forum, too afraid of having to deal with the realities of daily life that support for a candidate with an actual chance of winning has to deal with.

20. you live in your world and Ill reside in mine thank you.
Lets define cowardice, shall we? Is it cowardly to step forward , basically alone and unsupported ,and speak to your views and desires for this nation? I think not! Is it instead cowardly to realise that the candidate you support sounds more and more like Bush with each passing day, has supported Bush on several issues and offers no real difference on several others? I think that it may very well be cowardly to support someone who, deep in your gut, you know is the wrong candidate but to oppose him means being cast out of the group.

I do not whitewash all Kerry supporters as cowardly of course, that is a tactic of the neocons within the party. Some are purposefully pushing the leadership of the democrats as they too are right wingers, some are simply honest folks being deceived by these neocons.
