Hillary's Campaign Message: It's OK to be racist, just don't get caught being racist
Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:42 AM by berni_mccoy
After the long chain of racially divisive tactics in her campaign, we now are made aware with the Kantor video how truly racist many of her staffers really are. The problem for her is they keep getting exposed. At this point, there is really no hope for her to win the African American vote, even if she finds a way to win the nomination, which is unlikely. She also will not win the independent vote. The bigotry and racism of her campaign is being exposed and will, albeit hypocritically, will be exposed in a general election campaign by the GOP.

Her campaign has shown a clear track record of using racially charged and divisive tactics starting with her Campaign Chair in NH, Bill Shaheen who labelled Obama as a black drug dealer. From there, both she and Bill denigrated Obama's success in SC and LA by saying he only won the black vote. Of course there were the religiously bigotted attempts by the Clinton campaign to label Obama as a Muslim. And then we have Geraldine Ferraro, an obviously racist individual who declared Obama "lucky to be black" and after 12 days of spouting even worse racially divisive language, was forced to resign, she blamed her resignation on the fact that she is being unfairly attacked because she's white.

Now, most recently we see voter suppression tactics targeting of African American voters in North Carolina and the revelation of Carville and Stephanopolis celebrating Mickey Kantor's proclamation that the people of Indiana are "Shit" and "White Niggers". Clinton has known Kantor for over 20 years and he is an active, contributing member of her campaign. I'm sure she will eventually denounce his statements, and possibly pretend to fire him (she never really fired Mark Penn after all, he's still getting paid millions by her campaign). But the take-away point here is that she allows racists to participate in her campaign and shape her campaign strategy... until they get caught.

One wonders what kind of Administration she will run.

1. obama's campaign -- it's ok to be actively homophobic
and use characters who are active threats to the lgbtiq community -- as long as you can go to some church and use language like love the sinner but hate the sin etc.

4. Desperate attempt to distract. Having one homophobic supporter vs. pattern of racism...
hmmm... which is more damning.

6. and if you notice Obama continues to talk about civil rights for gays in his stump speech
while Bill and Hillary wink and nod about pansies and 'good ole boys' and 'our kind of people' and 'our kind of issues'.

I would be real interested when the last time Hillary brought up gay rights to a blue collar audience.

Oh and BTW Obama put it center stage in his MLK speech at Ebineezer.

Nobody has been made more the fool in this campaign than the loyal Clinton gay crowd.

Don't forget that she doesn't agree with what 'those people in San Francisco do in closed door meetings'.

Man have you been taken for a ride.

Link please to Clinton actually raising gay issues in a speech to Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, or Indiana?

13. no apologies for mccklurkin -- no effort to bring down doma
in the state of illinois -- which he likes to critisize others for.

sam nunn as a close advisor to obama -- the architect and preeminent proponent of dadt along with colin powell.

ex-gay ministries are active threats to the lgbtiq community on a par with focus on the family and pat robertson.

he activel defended mcklurkin after cynically using him.

if mcsame had done ANY of those things -- you from obamanation would burn him from here to eternity -- but no you remain cultishly slavish to a man who has time and again presented himself as no friend to the lgbtiq community.

on this issue -- obamanation is hypocritical with out peer.

2. Another thing that I find just as problematic are the number of Hillary supporters...
here on DU that still support her antics. These people really need to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves if that is really what they want for this country/world for the next 4 to 8 years again. I know that I don't.

7. This OP is asinine. E.g., what serious-minded person could believe the Clintons
Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:53 AM by WinkyDink
are behind any "voter suppression tactics targeting of African American voters in North Carolina"?
Such a belief---calling the Clintons CRIMINALS---is not held by any Democrat.

Then there is the completely bizarre claim of "the religiously bigotted attempts by the Clinton campaign to label Obama as a Muslim."

Yeah, that's right. The Clintons are famous for being racial and religious bigots.

9. Apparently the NC Attorney General and NPR (they've picked up the story and are running with it)
And MSM is running with Kantor-gate.

Nice try though.

11. Some journalists have called out the pattern. It's good to continue to reinforce it.
Thanks.

16. I don't wonder
I have a pretty good idea and I think most Americans agree that we don't want that kind of leadership.
