"With us or against us" will change some votes to be sure...Any red blooded American should be against that term no matter what the context....Us it or loose it Obama....

18. Clinton pushing for a quick vote....
E-mailed my Congressman yesterday....before I knew she called for a vote...

AP had this:

"MUNSTER, Ind. - Hillary Rodham Clinton called for a vote Friday in the Democratic-controlled Congress on a summertime suspension of the federal gasoline tax, a plan that Barack Obama dismissed as a political stunt that would cost thousands of construction jobs."

Go Obama.......tell Americans just how many jobs we will lose because of her foolish idea to gain votes.

4. And yet, today he proposed a windfall profits tax on energy companies.
Just
Like
Hillary

... except he doesn't intend to use the proceeds to replace the sales tax.

The complaints about Hillary's "tax holiday" are:
1) Tax holiday sounds just too GOP-ish. I agree with this.
2) Her windfall profits tax on energy companies will never pass. But Obama's bigger tax will, of course.
3) Her repeal of the sales tax on gas won't have any effect on pump prices. But Obama's bigger tax on producers and with no change in the sales tax won't either.

Hillary would replace the sales tax with a moderate windfall profits tax. Obama would ADD a very large windfall profits tax on top of the sales tax.

I choose the first one.

9. That's fair. Well, I'm going to keep an open mind...not a fan of the WPT or tax holiday right now.
I guess I was just pointing out that Obama wasn't copying the WPT from Clinton.
Cheers

21. That is NOT the point
This idea has been floating around the democratic side of COngress for a while know AKAIK. The point is that Clinotn claims that the windfall tax makes her proposal different from McCain's because she says this money will be used instead of the gas tax. The problems with her claim are twofold: 1. the windfall profits tax will NOT PASS, at least in the Senate until we hopefully get more dems next year; and 2. it seems (sorry, no link, heard it on TV) she also wants to use the same $s obtained from the oil companies to fund research into new energy sources, sorry, can't do BOTH. As usual, she is pandering, and hoping that people do not notice.

17. This is good, but he should make an ad out of this.
The ad on the gax tax holiday that's he's been running is kind of weak. This speech addresses the issue much better.

24. you are right.. He could have done alot better.
Where he says we would save half a tank of gas, it sounds like a half a tank each time.. And it does not mention the job lay offs that woulld happen.
