'I am delighted to be the Senator from Punjab.'
are these the words of a patriot, or that of a traitor?

Why doesn't she go run as the President of India as well?

Where do Hillary's loyalties really lie?

...some more juicy questions McCain is dying to ask in the GE!

45. A street kid from Jakarta is not a member of Congress
with a duty to represent American constituents.

Hillary, as a member of the Senate, said she was delighted to be a "Senator from Punjab," as she tells the voters that she opposes offshoring.

Maybe you are too obtuse to see the difference.

13. Obama Apologizes For 'D-Punjab' Memo
Senator Barack Obama said his campaign ''made a mistake'' last week when
it distributed a document criticizing the support Senator Hillary Rodham
Clinton has received from Indian-Americans and companies that do business
in India. ''The memo's caustic tone and its focus on contributions by
Indian-Americans to the Clinton campaign was potentially hurtful, and as such,
unacceptable,'' Mr. Obama said in a letter to Indian-Americans. The document,
which referred to Mrs. Clinton as D-Punjab, caused a furor among Indian-American
groups. Mr. Obama said he did not know about the memo, but added, ''I consider
the entire campaign, and in particular myself, responsible for the mistake.''

Then she gos out and lies about her stance on NAFTA, lies about Obama's stance on NAFTA, and lies to voters that she opposes offshoring.

Instead of applauding Obama for running a clean campaign, you deny that Hillary made the stupid statement. Blind devotion is a trait of those with low intelligence. It is very common among republicans, who refuse to see any wrong in their glorious leaders. Very much like the 28%'ers.

i was replying in reference to the picture above where she was in India on an official visit.

1: India is the biggest democratic country in this world. Being there is better than being in Somalia and wearing osama clothes.

2: Regarding all the outsourcing, lets talk about how much money american banks, corporations, food chains like mcdonald/kfc/pizzahut etc make FROM INDIA.

3: Regarding all the IT outsourcing, lets talk about over 100,000+ students from india coming to USA every year for education, paying over 3+ Billion dollars in fees and living expanses to american economy.

4: Lets talk about reverse outsourcing when all these indian companies are hiring american citizens on their board member, CEO, director positions.

5: Lets talk about why a 200,000 IT job outsourced over a period of past 15 yrs is much bigger than 10+ MILLION BLUE COLOR/MANUFRACTURING JOBS which are outsourced to your beloved communist/marxist CHINA.

6: Lets talk about all the investment indian company are making in USA and its high tech technology. How about the billions of dollars worth of defense material india buys from america and feeds american economy.

IT IS SHAME THAT COMMUNISTS/LEFTISTS HAVE NO LOVE FOR GLOBALIZATION WHEN IT COMES TO INDIA, BUT THEY WONT MIND SELLING OUT TO CHINA.

35. Wow. Awesome.
1. You are making a really bizarre strawman argument. There aren't only two choices. Again, wtf are you talking about?

2. That's called changing the subject. The OP isn't talking about that.

3. Okay, let's talk about that. Let's also talk about the thousands of displaced American IT professionals who now are unemployed or underemployed due to 4013-B visas. And I would **love** to hear about this 3 billion dollars. Where exactly does that figure come from? And even if it is that much, protecting the domestic labor market is more important. Sorry.

4. Oh, that sounds like a HUGE problem. So you're upset that the guys who are GIVING THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of American jobs to India are sharing board seats. Oh lord, I'm going to cry myself to sleep on that one.

5. Oh, look, the mask is slipping! You're a free-trade neoliberal maniac. Guess what? I'm upset about that too. But Clinton didn't say she was "Senator Chin". Trying to change the subject again.

6. Oh lord, that's the best one yet. India PROTECTS their domestic companies. Walmart is only allowed to have one store there. Market entry is almost impossible compared to America. And honestly? What investments in our economy? I see **none** of that. Things have gotten MUCH, MUCH worse here since outsourcing has started.

I don't like losing jobs to China or India, and I will fight every free trade initiative that puts fat cats and foreign interests above our domestic labor market. Methinks you protest too much.

Nielsen layoffs, tax breaks anger Oldsmar officials (TATA)

Published Tuesday, April 15, 2008 11:39 PM

OLDSMAR — City Council members expressed outrage Tuesday over the Nielsen Co.'s plans to eliminate 110 positions at their Oldsmar operation after accepting government money to create jobs.

"To think they have the gall to take taxpayers' money and then lay people off!" said council member Suzanne Vale. "I am so upset."

"It's just incomprehensible to me," agreed council member Janice Miller.

They were responding to news that Nielsen is outsourcing work to India-based Tata Consultancy Services after receiving at least $3.1-million in state and local subsidies mainly to create jobs in Oldsmar.

Tata, one of the world's largest providers of consulting and outsourcing services, has brought in its own workers from India.

And Nielsen, formerly known as Nielsen Media Research, says they have plans to restructure further.

The topic was raised by City Council members at the end of their regular Tuesday meeting.

Some members urged their colleagues to stay calm. Mayor Jim Ronecker reminded the council that outsourcing is a national trend.

"We can't tell them how to run their business," he said.

"No, but we can call a thief a thief when they take the taxpayers' money," said council member Greg Rublee.

40. Okay
1. Baloney. They are a caste society, and it's better to not be in the lower castes... Also, what do you mean by "osama clothes"?

2. "Offshoring" is the technical term. Also, for all I've read from SOME Indians "looking forward to America's comeuppance", I hope they don't have anything to do WITH America. Including jobs. Seems a conflict of interest. And remember, I said "some", not "all". Unlike you, I'm trying to avoid glib generalizations.

3. www.zdnet.com -- they used to talk of companies giving free or subsidized costs to education. Once people started complaining in their "talkback" sections, these articles disappeared. Doesn't mean the freebies aren't continuing.

4. So far, to my limited knowledge, "insourcing" has Indians engaging in "Indians-only" policies. I recall reading an article, having looked up "Clinton tata" with safe searched turned on because I did not want to see any photoshopped/topless pictures of her.

5. Wow, presuming we love China? I thought you loved China... BTW, Chinese labor makes more clothing than "osama clothes"...

6. You are really out of touch. Americans are losing jobs and livelihoods BECAUSE of offshoring. How is that helping America's economy?

Your unnumbered point I shall also address: I thought it was the right-wing that loved "selling out" to China, though I won't deny another Clinton had worked on this as well? If the work can be done good, does it matter where? But it's not about quality, but quantity. For example, just about EVERY country has been recalling junk made in China, due to toxicity and other concerns. Looking at Windows Vista, all things considered, offshoring its development hasn't helped it much either. But what I just said is not proof. It's conjecture, or perhaps inference if you look at the resources required by previous Microsoft products.

Worse, the media, politicians, and some corporations express concern as to why fewer Americans enroll in higher education. The reasons are fairly straightforward:

* Higher tuition, partly caused by fewer students enrolling. One day, even the administrators will have to take a pay cut or dance a little harder.
* Fewer jobs available and lesser pay for them. Money being an incentive, as is "Return on Investment", to spend tens of not hundreds of thousands of dollars... for a $12/hr job that demands the universe is not realistic -- for either worker OR company.
* Speaking of education, many schools (aka "diploma mills") offer degrees in many fields being offshored. When asking them if they offer classes for ((areas cited in the media as future career options, related to the courses these schools offer)) they remain disturbingly silent.
* Those and other factors lead people to believe "globalization" is merely "expansion, often to the cheapest bidder and regardless of quality". "Competition" is a complete misnomer too. This is no way to run an economy, whether it be global or local.

Welcome to DU, may I add.

37. "thanks to Clinton's charm America has 87% approval rating in india."
Wonder why?

Hillary Clinton woos India

Hillary clears outsourcing air

Hillary Clinton made it apparent where she stood on outsourcing during her India visit, in an attempt perhaps to clear the Indian misgivings received during the Kerry campaign. "There is no way to legislate against reality. Outsourcing will continue," she told an audience of Indian big-wigs. She pointed out that there were 3 billion people who feel left behind and are trying to attack the modern world in the hope of turning the clock back on globalization. "It is not far-fetched to imagine ... if the Indian miracle would be the one of choice of those who feel left behind," said Hillary.

Hillary has been at the forefront in defending free trade and outsourcing. During the height of the anti-outsourcing backlash in the US last year, she faced considerable flak for defending Indian software giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for opening a center in Buffalo, New York. "We are not against all outsourcing; we are not in favor of putting up fences," Hillary said firmly, despite inevitably invoking the ire of the anti-free trade brigade.

42. Pandering?
If offshoring didn't hurt American jobs, then this wouldn't be an issue. Not one bit (or byte, kilobyte, nybble, or anything other pun of metrics I could find).

True globalization ("expansion") vs what is perceived as "migration" and "dumping on one's fellow Americans" is the core issue.

I understand people should want education and all the other talking points from various groups. But in some areas, there are disconnects; areas left unspoken. Of course, fools rush in where angels fear to tread... though since when in modern day journalism is anybody an angel?

If Ms. Clinton, or any candidate, would come out and say how the candidate would approach both America's economy and the embryonic global economy, it would be great to hear. People are not unreasonable, we just don't like being left in the cold.
