McCain Is The Most Honest Today! Kudos to Him!
Edited on Fri May-02-08 11:08 PM by Median Democrat
In a rare moment of candor that even Obama and Clinton would be hardpressed to match, John McCain recently admitted that the Iraq war is all about oil:

"My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East."

Wow! No reference to weapons of mass destruction or keeping America safe. We were just going after the oil. Mother Jones was right! I have to say, it is refreshing to have a politician just say what we all know.

The sad thing is that we now so used to getting lied to, that there is no outrage that McCain just copped to the truth to the whole world. Instead, the reaction is a collective, "Duh!"

2. I do give Chris Matthews for also picking up on this...
Say what you will about his show, it's still better than "Race to See Who Can Talk About Rev. Wright the Most".

10. Keith Olberman had a field day with this too. McCain has been trying to explain this away....
ever since he made the gaff.

5. So lowering the price will increase consumption? You are for higher gas prices?

7. The McCain/Clinton proposal will allow the oil companies to increase the price of gas. But instead
the money from increased price going toward public infrastructure, it will go into oil companies share holders profits.

Read Krugman on this. He's an economist, and like all economists, he can explain to you why the McCauin/Clinton proposal is an illution perpetrated to pander to voters with real actual negative consequences both for public policy and for the price of gas.

The price of gas started climbing sharply after both McCain and Clinton voted with the Repos for the IWR. If you have a problem with gas prices, perhaps you should think about what factors caused the steep increase.

4. reminds me so much a while back of a 'toon' of Laura and Georgie sleeping, hearing drip,
drip drip...of our soldiers' blood..in relation to the 'oil'
I wouldn't know how to find it, but it reiterated so deeply what I felt, what so many of us felt.

8. But perhaps we need a candidate who will tell us the truth.
Even accidentally. :+

13. We had one in John Edwards. Unfortunately, the powers that be didn't want him,
and American voters showed they aren't ready for the truth.

14. Well, I woulda said that Kucinich was that one...
...but Edwards was my second choice. We are poorer for his withdrawal.

12. Was it about getting? How much oil have we gotten form Iraq?
That oil goes to other places, ours comes from South America. It is about stopping the flow of oil and raising the price for George's Saudi backers, milking the US treasury for all his military industrial backers. So McCain still didn't get it right. Besides he is still planning on being there for 100 years to protect our interests. Which is defeat those infidels in the name of Christianity .
