ANY BILL that put a tax on big oil profits! Americans should know this. Hillary should know this. She could not pay for a gas tax holiday! Don't believe her lies! END of discussion.

2. The longer she defends this stupid idea, the worse she'll look. |

Reid isn't for it, many Dems aren't. And, the most important part would get vetoed.
Stupid idea...what experience?

Bush will veto it because he is for the oil companies. Clinton supports giving money back to the citizens instead of the oil companies.

It's not going to make it to chimpy's veto. If it did go through, nothing is going to prevent the gas prices from rising, and eclipsing the 60 bucks this pander would give, for the Summer. It is a stupid idea. And when the "holiday" is over, we will hear, Dems want to raise your gas prices. It is so stupid.
Embrace Hillary, it's going nowhere.

between food and gas. I know many people who do. The gas prices are hurting us in many ways. A bit of a reprive for those single moms who can barely afford to feed their kids is not stupid...perhaps if people give up a latte once in a while and visit the shelter, they would know.

I am no elitist and have to choose regularly between necessities.
Can you tell me you expect the reprieve to last through the summer? You honestly think the price for gas isn't going to go up? I drive a lot for my work, and it would save me 3 bucks a fill-up. I fill-up once a week. So, I am looking at 12 bucks a month, and around 40 for the "holiday". At what cost? The windfall tax will go nowhere, so the feds would lose money, and jobs.
When the "holiday" expires, then what? Back up to full price, why would it be better for me to pay it then?
Are we going to see the price of foods come down this summer, too? I doubt it. It is a stupid idea.

11. 18 cents a gallon is going to change lives? |
|
That's the part that is so infuriating and makes her and McCain look more out of touch than any politicians in recent memory.
And there's also that little pesky part where Steny Hoyer says the whole thing is a non-starter.

13. It's an empty promise of relief. |
|
Note how gas prices rise. If $0.184 is deducted from the price per gallon by not collecting a gas tax, this gives no relief if gas prices rise $0.19 -- in effect, the money would go to the oil companies.
And your response is coming from someone who has obviously never lost a construction job because road work was not being done, due to lack of funding.

Sure it would make Bush look bad, but it will never happen, period. Congress won't pass such a bill, and Hillary is being deceptive telling the public she can do this while Bush is in charge. I don't call that "brilliant" I call that dishonest!
