As I look back at all of the sh*t that I've had to endure because of the Clintons |
|
Edited on Mon May-05-08 04:12 PM by virtualobserver
It was never possible for me to enjoy the fact that we had a Democratic President from '92 - '00
So many years spent defending Bill's wayward penis and his willingness to lie directly to both the american people and a grand jury,Hillary's magically reappearing Rose law firm records, travelgate etc.
For the most part, there never was any serious wrongdoing underlying their actions, it was always about lying
So now they change places, except now we have two wars in place (with another on the way, (Kyl-Lieberman...thanks, Hil...) and now we stand on the brink of a possible depression.
The one thing that hasn't changed is the lying and manipulation.....sniper fire....always against NAFTA....brokered peace in Northern Ireland.
Should she elbow her way to the nomination, you can know one thing.....more lies and scandal await us should she survive the Republican onslaught.

you think the blow job was worthy of anybody's attention? you think a repuke doing it would have had any attention paid to it?
seriously, considering the views on the big dawg until recently, one would think there had been a complete personality transplant here on DU.

43. She supported Bush on his most heinous policies, including Iraq, bankruptcy bill.... |
|
Bush Jr would not have been able to wrap himself in the cloak of bipartisan support if it wasn't for political traitors and whores like Hillary Clinton.
Her vote to invade Iraq has helped to destroy America, both emotonally and fiscally.
She's done enough, in my book. Let's not give her and Bill another chance to defile the White House with their sins.

2. How you behaved in the past is a direct correlation on how you will behave in the future: hence |
|
the reason you get a higher interest rate on your home if you have past late pays. Or how you have to put a lot of money down to buy a car if you have had a repo> If he cheated in the past he will cheat in the future. The analogies can go on and on. Bottom line is the Clintons are not what we want back in the White House. We don't need penis distractions there are too many serious issues on the table.

I remember some things from the 1990s. I spent most of it working two jobs, trying to get my own business off the ground. 70-80 hour work weeks and no such thing as a paid holiday or paid vacation. I was making $5.40 an hour at a satellite dish factory. A factory opened up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and the Governor (Tommy Thompson) was bragging about the new jobs and being attacked because the new jobs only paid $6 an hour. Tommy gave a speech where he said "What's wrong with $6 an hour? If you don't want these jobs some other town would be happy to take them."
And in one sense he was right, because the factory had about 3 applicants for every person they hired. Still somebody in the legislature should have proposed cutting the Governor's salary from the $100,000 a year that it was to the $6 an hour that he seemed to think was just peachy. That wouldn't even do it though because most $6 an hour employees don't also get their own mansion and staff and transportation allowance, etc., etc., etc.
Let's just not pretend that there was universal prosperity in the roaring nineties.

"So many years spent defending Bill's wayward penis"
RW talking points.
Of course there wasn't universal prosperity, but the Clinton economy was a damn site better than the one preceding it or the one we have now. It was the longest continuous economic expansion in the history of our country. Attacking Clinton for his successes is also "stupid" as a campaign strategy, it's part of what has hurt Obama among lower income/blue collar voters who benefited from those years.

One of the things people need to recall is that for 6 years there was a Republican Congress- that often didn't get their way. Something else to consider was a balanced budget and foreign policy successes around the world- in places like Bosnia, Northern Ireland and nearly between the Palestinians and Israelis.
Unfortunately, Clinton (along with all too many DINO's) passed irresponsible legislation and engaged in some deregulatory failures.
Then there's Monica (which I don't fault Clinton for so much as I do America's puritanical pornographic culture and republicans in Congress).
Seems to me it's useful to put things into a bit more complex perspectives than what's usually posted here....

others of us couldn't care less about his dalliance with an intern- though we were often plenty pissed off about policy.
Indeed, my friends from abroad used express disbelief about the whole deal- and I used to try to tell them that, outside the South and lower midwest, most people felt more or less like they did- it's just that tabloids in the states were essentially mixed with the corporate media. Unlike their countries, where tabloids are tabloids, and news is news.

Hillary is "polarizing" and "divisive" due to the right-wing attacks she endured - and which then quickly shifted into Hillary is "dishonest."
It is clear to see the origins of this narrative - the Obama campaign. Of course, all done in the name of honesty and "New Politics."

29. It wasn't the lying about the blowjob |
|
I didn't give a rat's ass about that.
What I did care about was all of the kowtowing to the odious policies of the Republicans. I cared about the many, many young Americans that barely treaded water during those years and then got left behind when the jobs went overseas. I cared about the transformation of our welfare recipients into low-income welfare-to-workers who no longer saw their kids because of long, forced commutes. I cared about the deregulation of so many key sectors of our country...many in direct contradiction to the lessons of the past. I cared about our prisons filling up at a rapid rate as the racist drug war incarcerated an entire generation of brown people. And lastly, I cared about all of the cheap Chinese stuff that suddenly flooded our shores and ran every small business out of every town of America.
That's why I don't get a weepy little tear of joy in my eye when I think of the Clinton presidency. It had nothing to do with spooge and everything to do with the underpinnings of our society starting to unravel during the wild ecstasy of a biomedical and tech bubble that didn't help great sectors of this country at all.

Don't blame Hillary, he is the one who chose to run before he had actually built his resume and now that the media is finally paying attention he's far ahead of the game.

54. The Presidential Penis is only a topic of conversation when it is exposed |
|
I think that my first clue that things were changing was during the late 90’s when some republicans in congress insisted that the dimensions and curvature of President Clinton’s penis be entered into the Congressional Record.
.... I guess I can understand entering the dimensions, but the curvature? That would be hard to express without using complex mathematical terms....which would diminish the normally erotic nature of the congressional record.
I am curious about exactly how they obtained the info, I don't remember anything about the curvature in any of clintons campaign literature.
I mean really! ...Wouldn't that kind of detail be better suited for the Presidential portrait....maybe a Presidential pop-up book.

They will go after him on shit that doesn't matter.
One "misspeak" after being hounded with total nonsense day in/day out and he will forever be branded a liar.
And you will probably fall for it, just like you did with the Clintons.

You know, the same kind of shit that makes blowjobs important and budget surpluses irrelevant.
I wonder how a Democrat can go through two terms of Bush and still whine about Bill Clinton. It must take some incredible cranio-rectal gymnastics.

I *am* Irish and resident in Ireland and can tell you categorically that the Clintons played a pivotal role in the peace process. This is about the zillionth time I have made this point in DU to people who are probably unable to find Ireland on a map. As for the Clinton presidency well what did you not like - the peace or the prosperity ? Obama on the other hand, his Hubbardesque powers of mind manipulation do not compensate for his lack of a back bone as evidenced by his chickening out of debates with Hill. Rezkogate, Ayersgate, NAFTAgate, plagiarismgate, bittergate, Wrightgate....,the guy has more 'gates' than a builders suppliers. A few drops of kool aid confers lifelong immunity to rational argument.

Faux News and the Reich-Wing radio hacks. Your bogus talking points are right from their playbook. Perhaps you are one of those "Reagan Democrats"?.......Funny thing, Starr couldn't find anything after investigating the Clintons to the tune of 11 million dollars. Oh, the BJ has you disturbed! How shallow of you. Did you enjoy talking about Bill's penis? I recall that period of '92-'00 as being the best time in recent history. And, the fact that Bill Clinton's popularity has remained high according the numerous polls attests to those good times. Well, that was until Obama pulled out the race card.

is that I am expressing my true feelings as someone who endlessly supported and defended the Clintons for years.
I have earned the right to criticize them when they betray my values. This election has helped me to see them more clearly. For years I defended them almost reflexively.

It's always been a source of sorrow for me the the only Democratic president that I can remember in my lifetime was Bill Clinton. I was a little child when Carter was president. Clinton had the chance to be one of the truly great presidents of all time. He took over an America that was ready for change. The Cold War was over. We were loved and respected around the world. We had the internet and all kinds of new gadgets that the whole world wanted. We had the chance to truly change the world. Everyone wanted what we had, and there was nothing we couldn't do.
But Clinton settled for multiple blow jobs, gave up on universal health care, passed NAFTA, let the former Soviet Union fall into the hands of the mob, and let our economy further be defined as a few rich and many poor. Bill Clinton is at the same time, the greatest president I have ever seen in my lifetime, and the biggest disappointment. And his wife, she simply disgusts me now.
