How does Lake County compare to Marion Country? |
|
Obama got 60,000 more votes than Clinton in Marion County with a total of about 182,000 people voting.
I suspect he may do even better % wise in Lake County, but aren't their only about 110,000 people expected to vote? That would give Obama about 77,000 more votes and Clinton 43,000. Obama would then make up about 34,000 votes. He needs 38,000 which would cause him to be just shy. However, he could still make up 1 or 2 thousand in Monroe and a couple thousand in Marion County. That would make it literally a dead heat!
It's going to be Obama or Clinton by just a couple thousand votes. It's anyones state at this point.

1. Same demographics, basically, but Obama will have a few % less. |
|
Expect an Obama win by 4,000 votes.

4. Howard Finemann said the white vote is a bit more working class than in Marion |
|
Obama needs about 60-65% out of Marion to pull it out. Regardless whether or not he actually pulls it out tonight will probably be trivial in the end.

7. I agree. It will be similar to MO which Obama won by less than 1 % |
|
MO is considered no more Obama's than Clinton's. They both ended up with the same number of delegates. New Mexico as well.

6. Lake has about 400,000 less people. Ouch. |
|
Still, it's going to make it a nail biter for sure.

8. Commenting on stats above. Basically Lake is slightly blacker, slightly richer (although cost of... |
|
living might be more considering proximity to Chicago) and next to Chicago.
I drive through both counties fairly often and Lake is more industrialized. It actually smells bad at times. Marion is a more balanced economy because it contains the commercial and office sections that for Lake goes to other parts of Chicagoland.

9. Do you suspect it will vote with similar percentages to Marion? |
|
If so the Obama will make up around 35,000 votes taking him to within 3,000 of Hillary.
