CLINTON WINS INDIANA!
Edited on Wed May-07-08 02:46 AM by nvme
Some polls were predicting a 5%-10% victory for Senator Clinton in the Hoosier state. With 99% of the polls reporting in All major networks are putting this one on the books for the senator from New York. Obama, In a sign of good will congratulated Clinton on this hard fought victory. Obama was celebrating in North Carolina with resounding 10 point lead.
With Just over 22000 votes separating the candidates, this was as close as races can get for the Democratic nomination. Through out the night Clinton led with an almost certain margin of 10 % through rural areas. In the end however, the urban areas proved to be Obama stronghold. With them he slashed her margins to 22,000 votes of over 1.25 million votes cast.
With such a narrow victory in key state Clinton's next move is less certain. Having exhausted most other avenues, for victor . Trailing by roughly 150 delegates and 700,000 in the popular vote (excluding Florida and Michigan which all candidates pledged would not count prior to the primaries), the future of her campaign is uncertain.
It seems Senators Clinton next move will require serious thought on whether to continue on what in all likely appearances, will be a failed attempt to gain the coveted nomination, Or continue on with slash and burn politics that is likely to jeopardize the upcoming General Election.

1. I said it elsewhere, but she'd need to win all upcoming primaries by wide margins to beat Obama now.
I don't see that as very likely.

9. you mean rush limbaugh and the 11% republicans who listened to him put her over
what that means is that she is in even worse shape than before

NC was a blowout, Indiana was a draw

she has no more money

It is about delegate counts, and she won't catch up

The SD are well aware of what is happening

10. ummm...because there are not any large states left?
Last night she lost a big state, a swing state. She fell further behind in pledged delegates. She fell further behind in popular vote. Last night's results effectively made up for all of her gains in PA. The momentum is now with Obama. She can't win the pledged delegates. Her campaign is short of funds. There will now likely be a movement of super delegates, and not in her direction.

I am not saying she should withdraw. That is up to her. But if she chose to, she would have several reasons to support her decision.

5. Well they STILL haven't counted the Lake and Monroe Counties, which is suppose to be Obama Country
I guess we'll know more tomorrow. Winning by only 2% isn't that large a margin.

8. I've been watching MSNBC all night until they started re-airing
Switched over to CNN and they claimed the votes have been counted in those two counties, but I don't know the numbers.

The SOS don't have the numbers up yet, that's what I based my previous post on:shrug:

So, I guess I'll have to wait for later today to find out what the numbers are from Lake and Monroe these were suppose to go to Obama. However, at the SOS site there are still a lot of counties that don't have numbers posted.

7. there's only a little over 200 primary delegates left to vote on
I can't see Clinton winning 75% of the vote in the remaining states; especially since it looks like Obama is going to win Oregon and Puerto Rico.
