It is over and now supporters have several choices
1.- Vote for the presumptive candidate in November... PERIOD.. no questions asked. I don't have to give you reasons, even if I have given them to you already. Chiefly the USSC...

2.- Cross party lines and vote for McCain... I believe he will loose too since the country is truly fed up... and gingritch actually put it best, a disaster is a-waiting the GOP in November (and the House Members were told they were on their own)

3.- Write in your preferred candidate... which in-effect is number two

4.- Vote for a third party candidate... I will respect you for doing that... ok... after all I do believe we do need to change the system to allow third parties to play far more of a role.... and given the attitude vis a vis impeachment of my dem congress critter we will be doing exactly that in this house hold... we also know this is more of a protest vote and we hope she gets the message. And that message is... the US Constitution matters

5.- Stay home... seat this election out... not the first time or the last time that people do that. No harm no foul, and your decision truly.

These are truly your choices. And you can only reach whatever is your decision after you have some time to cool down and realize that yes, there is now a candidate... and it wasn't yours. Been there, done that this election... and I do understand how you feel... and I did not like either of the two last candidates

BUT... we never have perfect candidates. That is life.

So those are YOUR choices

For the record I am registered as an Indie (yes a signal to the state party after several votes in the house and the senate, my breaking point was... the credit tax give away)

I don't like either of these two centrists.. but I would be voting for Clinton in November... yellow dog and perhaps he'll turn into more of a progressive than his current voting record suggests he is (and the same goes for her) But HE IS the presumptive... the math is very clear and it is indeed over... thankfully over...

So it is time to act like an adult and if you are truly a democrat (ironic coming from an indie), you will do that

Oh and truth be told, the pain and hurt is such, that I cannot expect every one of you to overcome it. I just hope enough of you join the rest of us voting to elect Barack Obama President of the United States... four more years of Bush and this country will be done for. Yes, those are the stakes

That is all

1. agreed
My only amendment is that, in effect, anything but option number one is the effectively number 2 in that it helps McCain win rather than helps defeat him.

6. Has anyone besides myself seen how all of a sudden obama folks
Edited on Thu May-08-08 12:07 AM by BenDavid
are suddenly playing nice to Clinton voters? This is after months of ugly rhetoric and accusations of racism. I guess you now realize that if Obama secures the nomination, he will need the backing of the Clinton voters. Well, you are wasting your time being civil at this late stage. It is too late. The damage has been done. When you accuse the Clinton backers of being racists, well that’s like saying we all use the “N” word when describing obama.Hey, I can tolerate a lot because being a Jew I have been called worse, but I feel for those people that felt as though they were right in supporting HRC and come into this forum and for the last several months they are called bigot, racist for speaking out against obama. With no ill well towards the man, they only stated their views, but to call someone a racist because they support someone else tells me a lot about many of you obama people. SHAME, SHAME,
and to all the HRC supporters that have felt the wrath of these folks, I say, over look them and if you decide to support obama good. If you decide to support McCain, good...If you decide to stay at home and not vote, good. It is your decision and I say stay with your convictions.

To you obama folks,Words once spoken can never be recalled but I assume you could give a care whether are not you called someone a racist and not even knew the person. This is what this has come down to. Anyone against obama is either a bigot or a racist....Well, call me a bigot and racist all you want too, I know who I am. The question is, do you know who you really are?

My regret is having the moderators of this forum tell me that by calling obama, obigot was against the rules of this forum, but those same moderators allowed the worse vile names and lewd and crude remarks stand when written against HRC. I regret not being able to convince many that obama is a bigot and a racist. PERIOD!

7. Here is a free clue for you.. I AM NOT an OBAMA FOLK
My candidate was Dennis, and then Edwards... and I voted for Edwards in the Primary

Now... Barack IS the presumptive nominee, not Edwards.

I will be voting for Barack Obama in the Fall... if it had been Hillary Rotham Clinton, it could be Hillary Rotham Clinton

That is what a TRUE democrat (or fed up one that sent a message to party by becoming indie) does. Once the CANDIDATE emerges, you line up and vote accordingly. Perhaps, like myself, you will need to hold your nose while doing it... but your other choice is to vote for John McCain...

I laid out the choices for you. I can lead you to water, but not force you to drink it

For the record, the partisanship FROM BOTH SIDES was sickening to most of us

8. As an Obama supporter who has kept a civil tone in expressing my opinion
I'm disappointed but not surprised to see this kind a broad generalization against one side. From my side, I saw plenty of people going way over the edge on both sides. I can't apologize for them. Those people on both sides will have to apologize for themselves.

Unfortunately, the worst offenders are often the loudest, so the reasonable posts may get lost in all the noise.

Please understand that there is a broad range of Obama supporters of diverse character and temperament. I for one, have been making an honest appeal to both Obama and Hillary supporters to take a breath, look forward towards November and realize that both sides need the support of the other to prevent the continuation of this criminal Bush Presidency and finally work towards addressing the most serious issues facing our country.

10. And as a neutral observer I saw the same thing
poo flinging came from both sides, dark and heavy

But it is time to put that behind

Hell I don't expect anybody to apologize at this point... just to move on

13. Oh .. I am voting for the Democratic nominee ....
And always claimed that I would ... no matter what ....

What I will forever object to is the self centered need to lash out against good people here who did not support one specific candidate ...

To use our wonderful forum as another arena of disgusting personal attacks for political gain, whjether truthful or not ....

You don't forget that stuff ....

ALL the Democratic Party candidates deserved our ultimate respect, yet most here felt their particular choice gave them the license to bluster and bash with unmitigated ugliness ....

FUCK all that .... that is NOT my kind of people ....

I will vote with them, but I will not attend any social events with them, or befriend those who behaved as such .... life is too damned short to hang with mean people ....

why in many respects until now I staid away from the madhouse

:-)

There are people I will not even say hi to over a virtual character assassination campaign they ran over a fucking role playing game (talk about petty) now ten years ago... and yes, they did cost me a job and a reputation.

But if they will vote for Obama... fine with me.

So yes, I do get it.

But as a party we need to put this poo behind... (and for the record the worst offenders, I don't expect them to vote in November, or to vote for McCain)... nor do I expect you or many others, to go get a drink with these guys... it is mutual

12. Oh and son of david... one more thing
telling me that you are Jewish doesn't impress me... after all I am the daughter of a holocaust survivor.

Yes, I an on the lower age bracket for that group

And I will tell you something you may have trouble understanding... I've met real racists, hell as a medic I had to treat some of them.

Barack Obama is not one of them.

Neither is clinton

Some of the supporters for both sides are. And some of the comments on this site have been down right misogynistic or down right racist.
